Paul Mescal is well and truly in his lover-boy era as he revealed his plans to take a step back from his intense acting schedule to focus on the relationships in his life.
The 29-year-old, who turns 30 next month, is currently filming the new Beatles biopic in which he plays Sir Paul McCartney.
Opening up about his decision to “slow down” his career, the Irish actor divulged some rare information about his personal life.
What prompted his decision?

The Hamnet star revealed his reasoning during the latest episode of GQ’s YouTube series, 21 Questions to Fall in Love.
“I really enjoyed the rhythm I’ve been working at, but the process began when I was 23 and I’m now turning 30.
“I can feel myself wanting to slow down a bit more and certain priorities come in where I spend my time, whether that’s with my family or with my partner or with friends.”
This insight into the actor’s lives thrilled fans as he rarely discusses his romance with singer Gracie Abrams, 26, who is the daughter of Star Wars director J.J. Abrams.
He continued: “I’ve never had a desire to really spend my time anywhere else other than work up until this point…
“And now I do have a desire to not spend my time necessarily in a rehearsal room or on set.”
What has Paul Mescal’s life looked like since leaving drama school?

Paul explained his constant flow of work since graduating from drama school, The Lir Academy at Trinity College Dublin, in 2017, left little room to enjoy his personal life.
He said: “I’ve had six weeks [off work], but it’s always been in preparation for another job.
“The maximum amount of time I ever had [off work] is like eight, nine weeks. Three of those would be in bed, recovering, and then the next six weeks would be preparing for the next thing.”
What will Paul Mescal do with his time off?
The 29-year-old admitted that he would “love to go on a long backpacking holiday in South America” and has been discussing the idea with a friend to take off six weeks to do it.

What did Paul Mescal say about having kids?

Paul’s work revelation in the GQ interview comes after he told Rolling Stone last autumn that he hopes to become a father one day.
“I would love to have a family,” he said in September. “I’m not like, ‘I want them tomorrow,’ but I would love to have kids.”
When did Paul Mescal and Gracie Abrams start dating?

The two are rumoured to have been an item since June 2024. However, it wasn’t until a year later they actually confirmed their relationship, with Abrams sharing a sweet snap of the two at Glastonbury festival together in 2025.
Even Harris Dickinson’s girlfriend, Rose Gray, shared a snap of the couple, with Gracie taking an affectionate bite of Paul’s face.
The Hamnet star was most recently spotted with the pop singer heading to Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles on Sunday, January 11 after the 83rd annual Golden Globes.
No doubt spirits were high on the night as Paul’s movie took home the awards for Best Motion Picture (Drama) and Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture Drama.
The couple were seen looking loved-up holding hands as they stepped out of a vehicle for the afterparty.
