MAFS‘ bride Brook Crompton has finally broken her silence and issued an apology for her behaviour during Wednesday night’s dinner party episode. With a surprise entrance following her assumed exit from the show in the episode prior, it was quickly revealed that Brook didn’t return to say goodbye, but instead came back to fight with the other brides, targeting brides Stella and Alissa with allies Gia and Bec by her side.
Her behaviour during the episode was so shocking that it had fans swearing off the show for good and calling out Channel Nine for not issuing a “trigger warning.”
“I felt sick watching that,” one fan commented.
On February 19, following the outrage online, Brook issued an apology on Instagram, admitting that she was “the worst version of [herself]” and that she is “deeply sorry.”
While the apology looked to show Brook taking accountability for her actions as she stated that “bullying should never be condoned, and I am extremely embarrassed by the way I acted”, fans are less convinced.
The ‘bad edit’ excuse wasn’t used in Brook’s apology
Yes, the ‘bad edit’ excuse did not make an appearance in her apology.
This was refreshing to see, particularly after Gia told The Fox’s Fifi, Fev & Nick on February 19 that her and Brook were “show puppets” who were asked to “bring it” during the episode.
However, that doesn’t mean she hasn’t already tried and tested that excuse.
Fans are not giving her the benefit of the doubt just yet, as footage from Stan’s After the Dinner Party tells a different story.
Brook’s private apology to Alissa was less convincing
In Stan’s After the Dinner Party, Alissa broke down in tears when discussing her experience of facing bullying on the show.
While she did receive a private apology text from Brook about five weeks after the dinner party, Alissa said it was not “authentic” and claimed that Brook took “zero accountability.”

Alissa read out Brook’s text on the show:
“I’ve taken a lot of time to switch off and think about everything, but I really want to apologise again for what happened at the last dinner party I was at.”
“I was going through a lot mentally at the time, and unfortunately, I let the experiment get the better of me.”
“An executive actually did come to me and push that I should go for you and Stella that night, and keep stirring s*** up, and I really regret not trusting myself and listening to senior people and the other people that knew you prior.
“I don’t expect you to reply, but I just want you to know where I’m at.”
The unseen footage that was aired on the Stan show also revealed that Brook’s behaviour wasn’t just a one-off, as she was shown using cruel acronyms to divide the girls into factions: the “cool girls” vs. the “NBLs” or “natural born losers.” How very high school…
However, after Brook watched her actions unfold on screen, it seems this new apology was her attempt to rectify the ingenuity of the producer cop-out line that she initially ran with.
While this is certainly a step up, and better than nothing, fans are not ready to let her actions slide.
Fans are not ready to forgive and forget
Fans are in two minds about the authenticity of Brook’s apology.
While some agree that alcohol and production pressure may have escalated things, the majority of fans are not accepting Brook’s apology.
“That’s the most insincere apology I’ve ever seen,” one user wrote.
Other fans are calling Brook out for only committing to apologising after receiving backlash online.
“I think if she was truly sorry she should have gone on the after dinner party show and directly in person apologise to Alissa and Stella,” one user commented.

After trying to garner a positive spin for herself, fans recognised that Brook’s behaviour, while the most explosive during the dinner party episode, had been negative for a while.
“If it was a one off drunk dinner party and she had remorse the following day then I could slightly understand,” one viewer commented. “But she had felt that RAGE for 3-4 episodes in a row so I don’t believe she’s sorry in the slightest.”
Fans are also calling out the irony of Brook’s behaviour.
“I think we can view this how she viewed chris’ behaviour,” one person commented. “It’s great she took accountability, but things were said and can’t be taken back. It’s maybe best now she doesn’t have a platform.”
Brook’s apology was necessary and was certainly better than nothing at all. However, while it may take a long time for fans to forgive, we can’t guarantee that they will forget.
