Draped across the bed in a tight black Tom Ford for Gucci vintage dress that showed off her fit frame, Kourtney Kardashian posed for a photo with her ex-partner Scott Disick. Back together? Not so fast.
“Co-parenting,” the reality star, 39, cheekily captioned the snap that features Disick, 35, on the edge of the bed with their daughter Penelope, 6, sitting on his lap playing on a phone. While the mother-of-three’s sister Khloé Kardashian was quick to commend the former couple for playing nice – “At its finest right huuuuurrrrr,” she commented – others were less impressed.

“Not co-parenting. Just manipulating the situation to upset the girlfriend. Not the maturity of an almost 40-year-old. Grow up,” one person wrote in the comments. Another said it was “disrespectful” to Disick’s girlfriend of over a year, Sofia Richie, 20. Whether meant as a tongue-in-cheek gag or a more direct dig, the sexy pic is just the latest twist in the pair’s consistently complicated relationship. After a roller- coaster nine years together, during which Disick battled substance-abuse issues, the couple – who also have sons Mason, 9, and Reign, 3 – finally called things off in July 2015.
Their lives as exes, however, have been less than straightforward, with the pair living under the same roof for many months post- split while Disick openly attempted to straighten up his act to win Kardashian back.
Later, Kardashian got serious with model Younes Bendjima, 25, whom she met at Paris Fashion Week in 2016 (they split in August this year), it wasn’t until Disick started dating Richie in September 2017 that he seemed to move on romantically. Still, “Scott will always be family,” Kardashian told WHO in August. “We really try to have a good relationship for the kids.”
Likewise, Disick says that despite turbulent times, the former couple continue to work well together. “We never had any negativity between us and we made a very smooth transition into the way we live,” he told WHO last year. “Luckily, thank God, we’re able to see one another and still be with our children and, knock on wood, we have that. Everyone is somewhat happy.”
Later that month, Disick joined the rest of the Kardashian clan on a family holiday in Bali before travelling to Australia to attend a Melbourne Cup event with girlfriend Richie. Upon their return to the US on Nov. 5, Kardashian was spotted grabbing sushi at Nobu restaurant in Malibu with Disick and his girlfriend. Kardashian, however, “doesn’t necessarily care to get to know Sofia better,” a source told WHO, “but she feels she needs to because of the kids.
“Kourtney wants to make sure they are all on the same page. Scott and Sofia tend to get into arguments. Kourtney wants to make sure the kids are in a positive environment when they are at Scott’s house,” adds the source. “She is setting up rules for how things need to be when the kids are with Scott.”
After that tense dinner, in November the co-parenting pair had a family sleepover on the night before Thanksgiving. “I woke up this morning in bed with my children, in the same house as my sisters (minus @khloekardashian miss you), my brothers, the father of my kids, my mommy, my grandma, my nieces and nephew,” Kardashian captioned a shot of herself in pyjamas posing with Disick and their three kids. “I feel beyond grateful.”
The intimate family portrait was less heartwarming for Richie, who “was uncomfortable” with the Nov. 22 post, a source told Us Weekly. “But she has been trying not to let it get to her. There has been, and will continue to be, things with Scott’s family life that bother Sofia, but she is trying to just deal without causing drama,” an insider tells WHO. “She loves Scott and wants to be with him.
