Walking down the aisle to a complete stranger is one thing, but having to do it twice? While this year’s couples on Married at First Sight Australia worked to settle into the early days of their marriage, contestants Eliot and Lauren were the first to try their hand at love for the second time in the same season.
After ditching his new wife three days into their honeymoon, Eliot dusted off his wedding tuxedo for his second chance at love, with the experts re-matching the 35-year-old with intruder Veronica.
Who is Veronica?
Entering the experiment shortly after the starting contestants embarked on their honeymoons, Veronica is a 32-year-old personal trainer and former Miss Universe Australia competitor.
Similarly to Eliot, Veronica has been open about her high expectations for her partner, and after struggling to find ‘The One’ in the Sydney dating scene, Veronica hopes that her match with Eliot will mark the start of a lifelong journey.
In classic MAFS fashion, it wouldn’t be a love match without a little bit of chaos, and given Eliot’s strong aversion to strong, confident women, only time will tell if Veronica’s confidence will keep their spark alive or prove to be a dealbreaker.

Are Eliot and Veronica still together?
In its early days, Eliot and Veronica’s romance appeared to be off to a much more positive start.
“We clicked right away. It was the polar opposite of the first wedding, and I think you can see that when you watch it. There was some chemistry there immediately,” Eliot told Nine.
While his newlywed disappearance was called out as a major red flag by viewers, Veronica later shared that she actually saw it as a good sign.
“Initially, the way I saw [his disappearance] was, ‘How good that this guy can make a decision and follow through on it.’ I was looking at it as a positive because indecision is a red flag for me,” she told Today Extra.
While Veronica may have initially seen his speedy departure as a green flag, her two bridesmaids did not, and after giving him a light grilling at the wedding about why his last marriage failed (and why literally nobody showed up to see him tie the knot), Veronica’s friends were understandably wary about her new husband.
After a few less-than-kind comments about Lauren, Veronica later shared that her view on the end of Eliot’s first marriage evolved, telling Today Extra, “As time went by and some comments were made about Lauren, I was questioning things on the last day of the honeymoon.”
“I wondered how Lauren was feeling, because as a woman to receive that kind of rejection would just be shattering.”
While the relationship may have fared better than his first marriage, Eliot’s marriage to Veronica did hit its fair share of speedbumps throughout the season and the pair chose to leave in the sixth commitment ceremony.
“I can leave knowing I really did give it my best shot,” Eliot shared during the episode. “We’re very different people, and I don’t think there’s any hope for this eventuating into anything more,” added Veronica.
Shortly following their exit, Veronica spoke with Nine about where it all went wrong.
“He was just a bit stiff, and he didn’t really give me anything,” she told the publication. “It was like drawing blood from a stone with Eliot.”
