A royal visit to Australia has been confirmed and it is happening in just days.

Why is Princess Anne coming to Australia?

Princess Anne is coming to Australia in her role as Colonel-in-Chief to the Royal Australian Corps of Signals.

The RA Sigs is a group of soldiers who provide communications, electronic warfare and cyber capabilities to support military operations.

“The Princess Royal will be visiting Australia in her role as Colonel-in-Chief to the Royal Australian Corps of Signals (RA Sigs), with the visit marking 100 years since the formation of the Corps,” a statement from the Australian Defence Force’s official website read.

Her Royal Highness has held this role since 1977.

The sister of Britain’s King Charles will be accompanied by visit her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence.

When will Princess Anne visit Australia?

Anne will be in Australia carrying out official duties from the 8th to the 11th of November.

She will travel to New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland during the four-day trip.

Some details of her itinerary have been revealed.

The Princess Royal will attend a Remembrance Service and lay a wreath at the Anzac Memorial in Sydney, Buckingham Palace have confirmed.

The Royal Australian Corps of Signals will also be holding a centenary parade parade and garden party at Victoria Barracks in Sydney on this day.

The Princess Royal is believed to be heading to Melbourne, with private visits being made to Victoria Barracks and Simpson Barracks

Tuesday, November 11

Buckingham Palace have confirmed that the Princess Royal will lay a wreath to acknowledge Armistice Day at 7 Combat Signal Regiment Memorial at Gallipoli
Barracks in Brisbane on November 11.

The RASigs will also be holding a centenary sports day at the barracks on this day.

The Princess Royal has been a regular visitor to Australian shores, travelling here 20 times. She last came in 2022.

Anne is often called the unsung hero of the royal family thanks to her no-nonsense attitude and heavy workload.

She carried out 474 official engagements in 2024 while King Charles completed 372, which included his visit to Sydney and Canberra.

Her work ethic and no frills attitude has endeared her to the British public as well as Australians.

Her daughter, Zara Tindall, is also a regular, visiting each year to attend the Magic Millions carnival on the Gold Coast with her husband Mike.

Are other royals planning trips to Australia?

Anne is not the only British royal planning a tour Down Under.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed he recently extended a formal invite to the Prince and Princess of Wales.

This trip is expected to take place in 2026 and may see the couple bring their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, with them.

The pair last visited in April 2024 while they were the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. They had a toddler Prince George with them who was on his first tour at the time.

The family were expected to come in 2020 until the global coronavirus pandemic put a halt to their plans so the visit is well overdue.
