Whether you’re a die-hard tennis fan or just love your annual dose of on-court action, the Australian Open has certainly captured the attention of the nation.
While many players, such as Alex de Minaur and Stefanos Tsitipas, have continued to dominate the court, world #6 player Casper Ruud has also made waves at the 2025 Australian Open, showcasing his exceptional skills on the court and captivating tennis fans worldwide.
As the 26-year-old Norwegian star continues to impress with his stellar results and strategic gameplay, fans have grown increasingly curious about the man behind the racquet.

Who is Casper Ruud?
Casper Ruud is a 26-year-old Norwegian professional tennis star.
Starting his on-court journey at the age of four, Casper quickly rose through the ranks of the tennis world – ranking as the world #1 junior in 2016. Following a standout junior career, Casper turned professional in 2016 and in the years following has received several of tennis’ biggest accolades, including 12 ATP Tour Singles titles and being the first Norwegian to reach three Grand Slam finals.
After a stellar season, Casper reached his career-high singles ranking of world #2 in September 2022 – placing him just behind Spanish tennis star Carlos Alcaraz.

Is Casper Ruud married?
Casper Ruud is currently engaged to his long-term girlfriend, Maria Galligani.
While little is known about the couple’s early relationship, it is believed that Casper and Maria have been together since mid-2018, with Casper making their romance Instagram official in November of that year.
Despite keeping most of their romance out of the public eye, fans were excited to learn that the couple had celebrated their engagement in November 2024.
Announcing the news to Instagram, Casper shared a selection of snaps from his beach-side proposal with the caption, “Can’t wait to marry you💍🤍.”
Reflecting on the moment of his proposal, Casper joked, “The pulse got up there when you are about to go down on your knees, so it was a moment I won’t ever forget.”
Discussing whether popping the question was more nerve-wracking than facing off against tennis legend Rafael Nadal, Casper told Wide World of Sports, “I will never forget playing Rafa in the Slam final, but for sure, I will never forget going down on my knees for Maria. It was a beautiful moment, so I think this is a bigger moment.”
Despite capturing the hearts of fans, Casper previously addressed the couple’s decision to keep their romance private, telling We Are Tennis, “Obviously, we met before I got to the level I was at now, so things have changed for her as well, and it hasn’t always been easy. There are more things in my life that I have to take care of now than when we met.”
“On the social media side … she doesn’t want it. She wants to be her own, in control of her own kind of life and especially her personal life. I’m happy that she’s found that way.”
