After a decade of laughter, commentary, and hilarious one-liners, Gogglebox Australia stars Isabelle and Kerry Silbery announced they will sadly not be part of the cast for 2025.
“It’s with a very heavy heart to announce that Mum, Ruby and I will not be returning to Gogglebox in 2025 🥺💔,” Isabelle wrote to Instagram, adding, “Foxtel have decided not to renew our beloved show and although the show will continue on Channel 10, the three of us have not been included in its new form.”
As fans took to social media to thank the Silbery’s for their time on the show, their fellow Goggleboxers also took to the comments to express their sadness and disappointment at their departure.
“Well, you know what it’s their loss because you three have been nothing but incredible and it’s going to be almost impossible to feel those shoes! I think they’ve really dropped the ball here. But what do myself and thousands of other avid TV watchers know huh 🤷♀️,” wrote Angie Kent.
“This is sad and wrong. Just the comments on here show how loved you are. I’m so so sorry. I don’t understand this at all 😢,” added Yvie Jones.
Following the reception from fans, Isabelle opened up on the news to Mamamia, sharing, “I won’t lie, it was a shock. Mum was equally as shocked as we tried to make sense of things.”
“After being told to keep the first half of next year free for Season 21, receiving the news over the phone that Mum and I’s contract would not be renewed was not something I saw coming. We were oblivious to the big change that Foxtel were not renewing the show after 10 years and that 10 had picked it up solo,” she continued, adding that the family felt “blindsided” by the news.
While the Silbery’s were told that they had been cut from the show “due to financial costs,” Isabelle added, “no other families have been cut, which left me wondering why and who decided that three generations of women was the right choice to make – especially when the show is already dominated heavily by men’s voices.”
In her initial announcement, Isabelle touched briefly on using the show as “an opportunity to showcase real women’s voices across multi-generations.” Expanding on her family’s representation, Isabelle told Mamamia, “It was the sole reason we applied for the show in the first place. I saw a gap for multi-generational women’s voices in the mainstream media and I just knew it was important for Australia to have this more than ever.”
“The feedback from fans is that we enriched their lives, brought families on the couch together with their kids, and sparked conversations they may have not otherwise had. This makes our nine years so worth it.”
