With 11 Academy Award nominations – including Best Picture and five BAFTA Award wins – Poor Things has certainly made its mark in showbiz.
With a stellar cast list and peculiar plot, it’s no wonder Poor Things has grossed over $104 million worldwide since its debut in 2023.
If that’s not enough to speak to its success, the film has a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 92 per cent, described as “bizarre” yet “brilliant” by critics.
So, if you’re among those yet to see Poor Things in cinemas, you’re in luck because the film has officially made its way onto streaming.
Below, everything you need to know.

What Is The Plot For Poor Things?
Based on the book by Alasdair Gray and brought to the big screen by filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos and producer Emma Stone, Poor Things tells the tale of Bella Baxter, a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter.
Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn – fuelled by a hunger for the worldliness she is lacking. As a result, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn, a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents.
“Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation,” reads the official synopsis. Think: Barbie meets Frankenstein in this dark comedy.

Who Is In The Poor Things Cast?
Bringing Bella Baxter to life is the wonderfully talented Emma Stone, who is nominated at the Oscars for Best Actress for her portrayal in Poor Things.
The film also features Willem Dafoe, Mark Ruffalo, Jerrod Carmichael, Christopher Abbott, Ramy Youssef and Margaret Qualley in supporting roles.
