Let me preface this by saying I’m a die-hard lover of young love and cheesy (maybe even cringe) romance books and series. So, of course, I’m watching The Summer I Turned Pretty.
I first read the book when I was 16 — about the same age as our main girl Belly, actually — and watching the show now feels so nostalgic.
And I’m not the only one on TSITP train either. My girlfriends and I cannot stop yapping about our love for the show, our wild theories (hello, prequel about the mums?!), and our mutual hatred for Jeremiah… IYKYK.
In fact, we’ve fully committed to a live viewing party every Wednesday when new episodes drop on Prime Video (at 5pm, to be exact), just so we can watch and debrief in real time.

What we honestly think of TSITP season 3 so far
Episodes 1 & 2
First of all, if Belly doesn’t end up with Conrad, I will be staging a riot outside Cousins Beach. (Someone check on me when the finale airs.)
But anyway, on a serious note, I thought the first two episodes were chaotic, frustrating, and 99% Jeremiah — but with just enough Bonrad crumbs to keep me going.
As a longtime fan of the books, I loved seeing certain scenes come to life exactly how I imagined them, like the Conrad and Belly Christmas moment at Cousins. Literal chills. It’s moments like those that make my hopeless romantic heart ache in the best way.
“Oh, we are so getting a prequel.” — me, in the group chat
But that’s not to say the show didn’t throw in its fair share of chaos. Plot twists? Absolutely. Strange detours? Also yes. Why are Steven and Taylor still tangled up in this messy love quadrangle? Why is Jeremiah still here? (Sorry, not sorry.)
And let’s be real: with all the breadcrumbs they’re dropping, we’re 100% getting a prequel about the mums. And I’m living for it already.

Episode 3
Okay, I hated every minute of that episode (and let’s be real—I’ll probably say that about the whole season).
I physically cannot handle seeing Conrad that sad, and I absolutely refuse to be happy for Jere and Belly.
Also, “say hi to your lil sis?” Cringe. Instant ick.
That said, I did love the scene with Belly and her dad in the car. And the fact that her inner monologue was word-for-word from the book? Perfect. That moment actually felt like The Summer I Turned Pretty again.
