This smart ring got me to break up with my personal trainer for good

Oops.

You know the saying, “If you like it, put a ring on it”? Well… that’s exactly what I did.

The thing in question? My health and fitness, which I’ve officially vowed to take more seriously in 2025 and (and for life, really).

So when the chance came up to try the Ultrahuman Ring AIR, it was an easy yes. Before that, I’d been torn between a WHOOP or an Apple Watch, but the appeal of something more low-key (and, let’s be honest, less clunky) won me over.

But first, what is the Ultrahuman Ring AIR?

In short, the Ultrahuman Ring AIR is a sleek little ring that does a lot. It tracks everything from your sleep cycles and recovery to movement and metabolism – all without screaming “I’m tracking my steps!” on your wrist.

It’s lightweight, discreet, and packed with data-backed insights that actually make sense. Plus, it means you won’t have to worry about wrist tan lines from those fitness trackers. And when it comes to dressing up, you can wear it to formal events without it clashing with your look. A win!

What is the Ultrahuman Ring AIR used for?

The Ultrahuman Ring AIR is used to track your health and wellness, including your sleep quality, recovery, activity, movement, heart rate, and even your cycle. It also gives you real-time insights into how your body’s performing and recovering, so you can make smarter choices around rest, exercise, and lifestyle.

Unlike other fitness trackers (which come with a wrist strap and a subscription fee), the Ultrahuman Ring has no ongoing costs. And while it shares a similar ring format with Oura, many users say the Ultrahuman app feels more intuitive, offering less data dump, and more “here’s what this actually means for your body.”

And while I haven’t tested other fitness trackers, I can honestly say the Ultrahuman Ring has been a crucial tool in helping me better understand my health and fitness.

Is the Ultrahuman Ring AIR worth it?

As someone committed to improving my health and fitness (getting my steps in, sleeping better, understanding my cycles, and more), I’d say the Ultrahuman Ring is totally worth it.

I opted for the space silver to match all my jewellery, and I’ve already received so many compliments. I even convinced my (former) personal trainer to get one too!

Aesthetics aside, there are so many cool features that really make the Ultrahuman Ring worth it, including:

So, what’s the verdict?

Since getting my shiny new ring, I’ve genuinely struggled to take it off – I feel weirdly incomplete when it’s on charge.

I love having all my health insights in one handy app, and it’s actually been so helpful to know things like when I should start cutting back on caffeine (heartbreaking, actually), when I need to move more, and even where I’m at in my cycle.

It also sends me little nudges throughout the day, like when to get some sun (fellow low vitamin D girlies, this is for us) or when to start winding down for a proper night’s sleep.

Honestly, there’s so much more I could say about this ring, but I’ll leave you with this: it’s smart, stylish, and actually helpful, especially if you want an easier way to stay on top of your health goals.

Okay, what about the cons?

Of course, like anything in life, the Ultrahuman Ring AIR isn’t totally flawless. But the cons are few and far between.

I’ve had the odd moment where it struggles to sync with the app, but thanks to the automatic background syncing, I haven’t lost any major data. Step tracking can also be a little off, but I do love that you can manually log workouts and daily movement.

And if you’re into weight training, it’s worth noting you’ll need to take the ring off to avoid scratching, which, honestly, I try to be mindful of that anyway to keep it looking good.
