Andrew Garfield and Florence Pugh in one movie? Literally, what more could we ever want?
Thanks to the team at A24, our British romance dream is now a reality, with the two fan-favourites now starring across one another in the production company’s upcoming film, We Live in Time
If you haven’t already been inundated by the endless variations of the carousel horse meme (iykyk), We Live in Time is a 2012 fanfiction meet-cute scenario brought to life through characters Almut and Tobias, who begin to strike up a new friendship after Almut hits Tobias with her car.
What is We Live in Time about?
Has the car crash meet-cute already piqued your interest? Well, fortunately for us, the story of Almut and Tobias doesn’t end there.
Although the exact plot details of the film are still under wraps, based on the trailer, we can deduce that following their initial courtship, the film takes an unexpected sad turn, with Almut appearing to be diagnosed with cancer and undergoing chemotherapy.
The trailer also gives us a brief glimpse into the future of the new couple’s relationship, showing Almut and Tobias discussing a number of major milestones with their young daughter.
Reflecting on their characters’ journey together, Andrew Garfield told Us Weekly, “What I love about these two people is that they represent this strange, mysterious, undying, inexplicable want to live in the face of the most horrific heartache and loss and how we, as human beings, find that strength, that want, that little flame of longing to live over and over again.”
When is We Live in Time released?
If all the TikTok edits and interview clips have got you itching to catch Miss Flo and Andrew on the big screen, we unfortunately will have to wait a little longer.
We Live in Time will debut in Australian cinemas on January 23, 2025.
