The judges’ feedback on The Block has become a talking point among viewers, with fans once again questioning whether the contestants are being judged fairly.
This time, it’s a comment about Lisa and Rosco’s house that has sparked debate, after judge Darren Palmer suggested the couple hadn’t made the most of the home they were “gifted” by Courtney and Sev.
“They haven’t made the most of the gift that they got,” Darren said during the latest Room Reveal.
The comment refers to the house swap in the first week of the show. After winning the first guest bedroom reveal, Courtney and Sev earned the right to choose their preferred house for the rest of the season and opted for House 4. That left Lisa and Rosco in House 3, which Darren believes has the best backyard out of all the blocks.
But fans aren’t convinced Lisa and Rosco were gifted anything. They argue Courtney and Sev simply chose the house they wanted, leaving the other couple with House 3 by default.
Now, viewers are questioning whether “gifted” was really the right word, or whether it suggests bias towards Courtney and Sev, sparking another debate over the judges’ feedback.
Fans aren’t impressed with the judges
In week one, Courtney and Sev chose House 4 for its layout, extra floor space and the potential of a rooftop terrace. That left Lisa and Rosco in House 3.
For viewers, that sounds less like a generous act and more like a decision that suited the women’s own plans.

One fan questioned the logic behind the comment, writing: “Not sure how the girls ‘gifted’ the house. More like they wanted House 4 so they decided to swap with House 3!! Bizarre comment???”
Another viewer agreed, saying House 4 “didn’t gift anything” and described the judges’ feedback as “more stupid gibberish coming from biased judges’ mouths”.
Others were just as unimpressed, with one fan pointing out that Lisa and Rosco got House 3 “by default”. Another summed up their thoughts bluntly: “Stupid comment by [the] judges!”
But, as is often the case when the judging comes under fire, the complaints didn’t stop there.
Some viewers also accused the judges of favouring Courtney and Sev. One even asked: “Are the judges friends with House 4 secretly?”
Others pointed to design choices they felt the judges had overlooked. These included the placement of deck chairs near the pool stairs and the height of the bar.
For others, the issue was that Lisa and Rosco had only one room completed when they moved into House 3. In their eyes, calling the house a gift glosses over the fact that the couple still had plenty of work ahead of them.
The Block judges can’t seem to catch a break
Of course, Darren’s point was that House 3 has serious potential, particularly when it comes to the backyard, which he considers the best on the series. But having a great backyard and being handed a gift by another team aren’t necessarily the same thing.
And that’s where the judges seem to be losing viewers. Week after week, their feedback becomes a talking point, with fans questioning everything from room scores to whether certain teams are getting a softer ride.
The judges are there to critique the contestants’ work, but lately, it seems they’re getting a little judging of their own.
