It seems another Block cheating scandal is always waiting just around the corner. The latest episode saw House 2’s Chantel and Wyatt come under suspicion after All Star Spence questioned how they got so far ahead of the other teams.

Spence, who is filling in for Rick while he recovers from a knee injury, wondered how the Cursio Brothers had managed to get two coats of waterproofing down in one day before moving on to tiling the following day.

Chantel and Wyatt come under suspicion after All Star Spence questioned how they managed to get so far ahead of the other teams.

Having heard Spence voice his concerns, Tayla was quick to agree, accusing House 2 of doing some “shady sh-t” and joining Spence to confront the brothers over how quickly they were getting things done.

However, Adrian Cursio was ready with receipts, showing video footage of himself leaving site at 8pm. But while that appeared to prove he hadn’t been working late, it wasn’t enough to completely convince Spence or Tayla.

The suspicion didn’t stay between Houses 2 and 5 for long.

Despite Tayla insisting she wouldn’t tell anyone, it took mere minutes for the allegation to reach House 4’s Courtney and Sev. Before long, it had reached Adam and Jolene, with Jolene offering her own theory for why House 2’s impressive progress.

Perhaps, she suggested, Chantel and Wyatt simply needed to “learn how to style” — a cheeky reference to the pair’s ongoing criticism from the judges over their love of a neutral palette.

Now, Chantel and Wyatt have responded to the latest cheating allegation in an exclusive interview with WHO, and they’re adamant there was no rule-breaking going on.

‘We weren’t cheating’

Chantel and Wyatt have responded to the latest cheating allegation in an exclusive interview with WHO.

According to Chantel, the allegation came down to one thing — the other contestants simply couldn’t understand how they were moving so quickly.

“The only thing they could try to say about us was that they couldn’t understand why we were always so far in front,” she told us. “But we weren’t cheating. There are cameras everywhere. If we were cheating, they would have seen it.”

Chantel said their secret was less about bending the rules and more about having a team of trades who knew exactly how to work together.

“We have really good tilers, but our chippies and plasterers are also really good. Everyone understands how fast you need to work,” she explained.

“The chippies can’t have their nogs in if the plumbers can’t plumb. The plasterers can’t sheet and then obviously the tilers can’t tile. Everyone is working together really well at this point.”

And the pair said they even had the evidence to back themselves up.

“We always make sure our trades take a photo when they start and when they finish, and their invoices are 100 per cent accurate,” Chantel added. “So we actually had all the photographic evidence to prove we weren’t cheating.”

Chanel also believes the tight-knit relationship between their trades played a huge role in their progress.

“Everyone was really good friends and we all looked after each other,” she admitted. “The other houses were really struggling, and the only thing they could say was that we were cheating because that makes themselves feel better that they’re not as quick.”

So, was House 2 actually cheating? According to Chantel and Wyatt, absolutely not.

It seems their biggest advantage may simply be that their trades work very, very quickly. And with the cheating allegations showing no signs of slowing down, something tells us this won’t be the last time House 2 finds itself under the microscope.
