NEED TO KNOW
- Emma Cox understands Lisa’s experience after competing on The Block while pregnant in 2025.
- She privately encouraged Lisa to prioritise her health and avoid pushing herself too hard.
- Emma also advised Lisa to lean on production, describing the team as highly supportive throughout her pregnancy.
Few people understand what it’s like to renovate a house on national television while pregnant.
So when former The Block contestant Emma Cox learnt that Lisa was expecting a baby during the 2026 season, she knew exactly what the first-time Blockhead was facing.
Emma — who competed alongside husband Ben in Daylesford last year while pregnant with their son Bailey — met Lisa and Rosco when she returned to the show.
Emma revealed to WHO the off-camera advice she gave Lisa as she prepared to balance pregnancy with the demands of the competition.
“When Lisa and Rosco told us, we were so excited for them,” Emma said. “I was just like, ‘Girl, it’s a wild ride.'”
What advice did Emma give Lisa?
Emma encouraged Lisa to remember that her health remained more important than any room reveal or renovation deadline.
“I definitely said, ‘Yes, The Block is all you’re living for at the moment, but try to look after yourself and try not to push yourself too much,” she explained.
Contestants regularly work long days while navigating construction setbacks, financial pressure and the expectation of delivering a completed room each week.
Lisa discovered she was expecting her second child during filming, adding pregnancy symptoms to an already demanding schedule.
Emma therefore urged her to ask for help rather than attempting to manage everything alone.
“I said to lean on production if you ever need help or assistance, or you need a break, because you are growing a little human in there,” she said.
“You’re also trying to do The Block, which is a pretty bloody big effort.”
Emma says The Block supported her pregnancy
Emma reassured Lisa that the team behind the show would help whenever she needed it.
“They were so supportive when I told them that we were pregnant,” she said.
“The whole production were so supportive that you could honestly reach out and they would do whatever they could to help you.”
Emma learnt that she was pregnant on the same day she and Ben received the call confirming they had been selected for the 2025 season.
The couple welcomed Bailey nearly five weeks early on September 25, shortly before returning to Daylesford for the auctions.
Now, with Lisa following a remarkably similar path, Emma is pleased she could offer advice from someone who had lived through the experience herself.
The Block airs Monday to Wednesday at 7.30pm and Sundays at 7pm on Channel Nine and 9Now.
