EXCLUSIVE: The Block’s Rick would return for an All-Stars season, but he has one condition

Rick told WHO he isn’t ruling out another stint on The Block, but there’s one thing he’d do differently.

If there’s one thing we’ve learnt from The Block, it’s that the renovation dust might settle, but the contestants don’t always stay away for long. Despite the budget blowouts, tight deadlines, and enough room-reveal stress to put anyone off DIY for life, House 5’s Rick is already entertaining the idea of a return.

Rick revealed to WHO that he’d be keen to have another crack at the competition if The Block brought back its All Stars format. This time, though, he reckons he’d approach things a little differently.

“When the All-Stars come back, I’ll have a lot more fun,” Rick said.

After everything he and his daughter Tayla have been through this season, it’s easy to see why he might want a second chance. The pair have copped constant criticism from the judges and have been strapped for cash.

But it seems Rick hasn’t sworn off the tools just yet.

Rick and Tayla could reunite for The Block All-Stars

There’s also a rather fitting potential teammate waiting in the wings. When Rick floated the idea of an All-Stars return, his daughter and current teammate, Tayla, was quick to ask the obvious question.

“Who will be your partner in that?” she asked.

“That would be you,” Rick replied.

“Really?” Tayla asked.

Well, that sounds like a family reunion we’d happily tune in for. Tayla, meanwhile, knows she’d need to get back into training mode.

“I’m going to be block fit then; don’t you worry about that,” she joked.

Tayla wasn’t even meant to be Rick’s teammate

Rick and Tayla’s partnership almost didn’t happen. Rick originally applied for The Block with Tayla’s twin sister, Shannen, around 15 years ago, but when Shannen moved overseas, Tayla jumped at the chance. With less than 48 hours to film a video for the casting application while away at a wedding, she rushed to meet Rick, filmed the audition and headed straight home.

Fast-forward to today, and Rick is already eyeing a potential return with his daughter by his side.

Could The Block All-Stars return?

It wouldn’t be the first time familiar faces have returned to the competition. The Block: All-Stars aired in 2013, followed by The Block: Fans vs Faves in 2014. While there’s no word on whether another season is in the works, former Blockheads have already returned to help contestants this season, so it wouldn’t be totally unexpected.

For now, Rick and Tayla still have the current competition to get through. But if an All-Stars season does eventuate, perhaps Rick will finally get the chance to be the prankster he originally set out to be.
