Earlier this season, fans watched in horror as Ines Basic and Sam Ball cheated on their spouse’s and pursued a relationship together instead. Throughout, Sam promised Ines that his feelings for her were real, and he was willing to try their luck outside the experiment.
However, after old footage of Sam revealing his true intentions with Ines was exposed on tonight’s episode of Married at First Sight, the controversial bride broke down in tears, admitting he’s not who she thought he was.
Joining Elizabeth on the couch, Ines shared her perspective on the cheating scandal, claiming that pursuing a relationship with Sam wasn’t worth it afterall.
“It’s so conflicting. I never realised how affected Elizabeth was by my actions which is really sad to see. This is so hard for me to do,” she said. “Sam told me he wanted to make it work outside of the experiment but it didn’t happen. I had huge feelings for him. I chose to see the best in him, but like Elizabeth said, he says one thing and does another.”
Fighting back tears, Ines revealed that after the experiment ended, Sam ceased all communication with her and blocked her on social media so she had no way of contacting him.
“If you tell a girl you want to be with her and you want to live with her and then you ghost her, there’s going to be a lot of repressed emotions there,” she said.
After explaining how bitterly things ended with Sam, Ines turned her attention to her TV-husband Bronson, apologising for how she treated him.
“I used you to stay in the experiment and to be with Sam. I thought he was worth it. When someone is consistently doing these things to you with empty promises and then totally falling off the face of the earth and blocking you and then telling you you’re bat shit crazy, you’re the problem. And then you hate yourself,” she said through tears.
Clearly genuine, Ines told the group she’s disappointed with herself for falling for Sam, especially since he didn’t turn up to the finale.
“I have gone through life fending for myself, so it’s really hard for me to open up to a man,” she said. “Then when you have someone when you find someone and you can be so open and vulnerable with them… it’s just devastating.”
