Home improvement channel HGTV has just bought the North Hollywood Brady Bunch home for $2million, so will they be doing a retro reno?
Former NSync singer Lance Bass was ready to set up a housewarming dinner date with Brady Bunch’s Maureen McCormick, aka Marcia Brady, to celebrate his purchase of the infamous Brady Bunch house. But at the eleventh hour, HGTV outbid the boyband star and claimed the house for their own. Bass was initially upset that he was used to drive up the bid from $1,885,000 to over $2million but after learning who the buyer was, Bass was cool. “How can you be mad at HGTV? My television is stuck on that channel,” tweeted Bass. “Kudos, HGTV. I know you will do the right thing with the house. I can smile again.”
Money is clearly no object for HGTV, known for their portfolio of home improvement shows, and the cable network have plans to create something spectacular. Will it be the Fixer Uppers, Flip Flop or the Rehab Addict who’ll get to add their mark to the former Brady Bunch home? Who knows, but we do know it’ll be in keeping with the original Brady family style. David Zaslav, chief executive officer of HGTV’s parent company Discovery announced the purchase adding news about the planned renovation: “I’m excited to share that HGTV is the winning bidder and we’ll restore the home to its 1970s glory as only HGTV can.” So, brown wallpaper with orange flowers then?
