When taking a photo of Mariah Carey, it’s crucial to have great lighting (not fluorescent!) and to snap from her best side.
The elusive chanteuse explains all about how she was told her right side is her “good side” in her E! docu-series Mariah’s World.
While in the makeup chair, she recalls the story of when she was 19 and a lady from her record label told her on set of a photo shoot, “This is your good side, only let people photograph you from your good side, ever.”
Carey, 46, even admits that she thought the lady was right, explaining that she “kinda didn’t like” the test shots of herself posing from the left side.
“Maybe you had a crappy photographer,” makeup artist Kristofer remarks as the mother of two replies, “I think I did and makeup artist. So I stuck to it because that was her job.”
Adding, “[Everyone] knows about [the left side] but I don’t hate it when it’s well-lit, they just have to light it.”
