The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actor, John Wesley has passed away, aged 72.
The versatile actor – best known for playing Dr. Hoover on the hit 90s show starring Will Smith – died from complications due to a long battle with multiple myeloma, his family confirmed to Variety.
Gerry Pass, Wesley’s manager and producer, said in a statement, “John Wesley was a gift to the world, for his kindness and grace are immortalized in his works of theatre, TV and film. I am heartbroken to have lost a dear friend today.”

A veteran of the Vietnam War who held a degree from the University of California, San Diego and the University of San Diego, Wesley had roles in over 100 films and TV shows, including an episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, where he plays the parents of a girl that bullies Will’s cousin, Ashley.
He also played Mr. Jim, the barbershop owner on Martin, and the all-knowing janitor Willie on The Jamie Foxx Show.
His film credits include the 1992 comedy Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot with Sylvester Stallone and 1993’s Born Yesterday with Melanie Griffith
The actor leaves behind his wife, Jenny Houston and his daughters, Kimiko Kamiel Houston and Kinshasha Houston.
