Backstage, some of the night’s biggest stars were escorted to the green room to use two small bathrooms and avoid long lines in the back of the room.
At one time, Nicole Kidman and Lady Gaga were in each bathroom, while handlers had to step in and get Kidman back into her Spanx and Gaga out of – and back into – her oversized, intricately put-together gown!
2. Bodyguard star Richard Madden started smoking again – after quitting – because he was overwhelmed with winning
Spotted out on the adjacent smoking patio, Bodyguard star Richard Madden was spotted holding his Golden Globe in one hand and smoking a cigarette he bummed in the other.

3. An A list actress stole Isla’s Golden Globes dress
Isla Fisher revealed that when she went to pick up a glamorous dress she’d chosen to wear to Showtime Network’s night-before party, she was told a Globe nominee - “who shall remain nameless” she said caustically – had taken the dress to wear at the Globes.
“She knew I was borrowing it and didn’t care,” she lamented. Fisher instead dug out a stunning, gold low-cut dress of her to the tented event at the Sunset Tower.
But she checked every selfie to make sure there was no wardrobe malfunction, joking, “I can’t keep my boobs in this dress!”
4. Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen spent the night with Ben Stiller
The Aussie actress and her comedian husband Sacha Baron Cohen didn’t object when they found themselves sitting with nominee Ben Stiller, presenter Anne Hathaway and Jim Carrey, also nominated in the same category as Sacha.
“When we first moved to L.A., Ben Stiller was one of our first friends,” Fisher told WHO exclusively.
“Sacha is also close to Jim Carrey so we felt like we had the best table in the pit. And Annie (Hathaway, who appeared with Cohen in Les Misérables) was trying to get Sacha to sing Les Mis songs all night but he wasn’t drunk enough!”
5. Antonio Banderas couldn’t’ stand sitting next to Heidi Klum and her fiancé making out
Antonio Banderas and Janelle Monae spent more time in the green room and at the bar to avoid sitting next to Heidi Klum, who they say was making out with her new fiancé Tom Kaulitz throughout the show at their table.
“It was like a peep show,” Banderas complained.
6. Gina Rodriguez took booze in a flask
Gina Rodriguez is a Globes veteran after winning for Jane the Virgin so she knows getting to the bar for a drink during commercial breaks is tough. That’s why she wore a bracelet that doubled as a flask.
As she celebrated with fiancé Joe LoCicero at a table with Antonio Banderas, Janelle Monae and Heidi Klum, she was sending Joe for frequent trips to the bar to refill her flask.
“Don’t tell everyone or they’ll all be wanting one at the next event,” she shushes.
7. Debra Messing was on the hunt for food
Debra Messing and Connie Britton, close friends and nominees who sat together all night, were spotted in the bar during the show trying to find food.
Many stars doing the red carpet got to their seats after the Chilean sea bass meal was taken away.
“We’ll be on a diet of chocolate and coffee all night,” Connie joked as she gazed longingly at the Lindt chocolate bar alongside the Lavazza coffee bar.

9. Taylor Swift left because of a selfie
Taylor Swift and boyfriend, actor Joe Alwyn, tried to have some privacy in a dark corner but when security could no longer hold off the line of people asking for selfies, they left early after posing for just one photo with unexpected fan, Netflix boss Ted Sarandos.
10. Keri Russell used the male toilets
The actress joined her The Americans co-star and partner Matthew Rhys in the men’s room after skipping the long line to the women’s bathroom in order to make it back to her seat before their category – and show win.
“Boys don’t use stalls, you can mind the door,” she instructed an amused Rhys as she accompanied him into the men’s room.
