Who Has the Best Royal Style?

3 royal women, 3 different styles

It seems two of the women seem to be kindred style spirits compared to the other… and we’re Ok with all three!

Comparisons between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton are often made, but what about throwing princess Mary of Denmark into the regal style mix?

When the importance of strong female figures has never been more prominent, to pit any female royal against one another even when it comes to style, seems a little obsolete. We see similarities and differences between all three women but feel that there is a place at the style table for everyone. Each woman has their own sense of style, their own style fans and all serve a different style perspective which is great seeing as these women are amongst the top style echelon and often influence and set the trends for many different women around the world.

Let’s start firstly with two of the women whose styles seem to be very similar. Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, and Mary Crown Princess of Denmark.

Both women seem to be more traditional and classically-inclined when it comes to their main looks. Many fashion parallels can be drawn between these two women, and maybe subconsciously Kate sees Mary (10 years her senior) as a sartorial inspiration. Both are often seen sporting mid-length skirts and dresses, classic long coats and mixing high-end designers with more accessible brands such as H&M, Marks and Spencer and Zara.

Both Kate and Mary opt usually for more feminine & girly colours, shapes and designs in clothing and style whereas Meghan a slightly more contemporary royal, opts often for more modern and structural and form-fitting designs and cuts when it comes to dressing.

Not under as much pressure of being a prospective queen compared to Kate and Mary, it seems Meghan is free to take more style risks and the Duchess of Sussex prefers mostly more high-end fashion and designers as oppose to Kate and Mary who mix both high and low.

The difference of more traditional and modern outfit choices can also be seen between Meghan and Kate’s wedding day where the Duchess of Cambridge changed into a princess style gown, covered shoulders and diamante waist detail while Meghan changed into a sexier figure-hugging halter neck gown by designer Stella McCartney.

It’s a new time and a new generation and all three women and their personal styles cater to every woman. Whether you draw more inspiration from Kate and Mary’s more polished & feminine look or you’re a more edgy millennial who looks to Meghan for a more relaxed and contemporary-chic style, all three still have one thing in common, they are all refined & regal-looking in their own way.
