The Fashion world recently celebrated Haute Couture week in Europe which saw the likes of Christian Dior, Chanel, and Aussie designers Ralph & Russo showcase their collections to the fashion elite of the world.
Haute Couture pieces are individually made by hand and take hours and hours to create. The detail in each item is like nothing else, making them works of art. Each piece is estimated to cost hundreds of thousands to make each season, turning them into one of a kind pieces in the collection that very few people will ever get to own or even see.
Each season the major fashion houses of the world put on a show in Paris and Milan which they prepare for months before. Take a look at the Netflix Documentary ‘7 days out’ and you will see what it takes to put on a Chanel Haute Couture show. This season we saw a mix of themes transport us to new places by the choice of location and set design.
Here are some of this year’s highlights:
Alexandre Vauthier collection was true to it’s style and one of the favourites with beautiful detailing and that over all sexy vibe the brand does so well. For a Haute Couture collection, items look to be wearable and will likely be styles top celebrities will be wanting to wear in the coming months.
From wearable to bold statements, Viktor & Rolf showcased 18 oversized silhouette dresses with inspired slogans referencing the use of language used on social media in todays society such as ‘sorry i’m late, i didn’t want to come’ and ‘No photos please’.
It was definitely a show which saw everyone on social media post and repost over and over.
Haute Couture week wouldn’t be what it is without a Chanel show which is always a highlight. Karl Lagerfeld transported everyone to the 18th century by the use of pastels and florals in suiting, bodices with large skirts along with heavy detailing keeping it true to the heart of the brand yet with a 2019 twist.
If you’ve cleaned out your wardrobe thanks to Marie Kondo, you’ll have plenty of room to dream about a nice Haute Couture piece.
