Comfortable ballet flats are hard to come by.
They’re either too narrow on the toe, or too harsh on the heel. And the ones that are comfortable? Not nearly as cute as the painful ones.
So, in honour of finding the best ballet flats that are actually wearable and chic, I asked the WHO team to give me their best recommendations.
Including the ones that have travelled to Europe, attended weddings and just trotted about in the city.
The most comfortable ballet flats, according to our editors

Stine Goya Mesh Ballet Flats
Lyndsey, Editor: “They were expensive but worth every penny. So comfortable and so beautifully made. I always get a ton of compliments when I wear them, too. I like that they take the mesh trend (which I wasn’t much of a fan of, personally) but elevate it with the beads and cross strap.”
“Plus I like that you can’t see my full foot through the mesh (handy if I’ve not had time to get a pedicure!).”

Rollie Ballet MJ Square Toe Flat
Chanelle, Shopping Editor: “Hands down, these have to be my most-worn ballet flats. They have the softest padding inside, so they are super comfy, and the shape is super cute. The heels do take a second to break in, but once you do, they are divine. Wear Band-Aids for the first few wears, and thank me later!”
Lyndsey, Editor: “LOVE the shape of these!”

Bethany Ballet Flat
Freja, Content Producer: “I absolutely live by these reformation flats I got ages ago. They are so durable and have been through the absolute trenches of travelling and dancing, etc., while also being the best for work, a staple and a classic.”
“Durable in its construction and timeless in its design, these flats survived the sweat (and step count) of Eurosummer, while still remaining the perfect year-round shoe for the office. If you’re not a fan of kitten heels, Bethany is your girl.”
Chanelle, Shopping Editor: “These are fabulous!”
An honourable mention: The Jo Mercer April Suede Casual Flats, which our freelance contributor Marni swears by.
“I have these in a patent red, but it looks like that colour isn’t there anymore! (I also don’t think I have usable pics, oops).”
