Jesinta Campbell became a household name when she won Miss Universe in 2010. But the now-Jesinta Franklin that was the same time that her battle with anxiety began.
Buddy Franklin’s wife spoke to Marie Claire about her mental health issues, saying, “It was just so overwhelming.”
The 27-year-old admitted despite all the success, her health got so bad that at one point she didn’t want to leave her home.
“There were days where it was really hard for me to go outside because I felt like everyone was looking at me.”
“A few years ago, I was lying in bed and I felt like I couldn’t breathe, and that my chest was caving in.”
Franklin’s life turned around after she sought professional help, which lead to her anxiety diagnosis.
She also leans on her husband, who has famously spoke out about his mental health issues.
“My husband can sense when I’m anxious and helps me through it. He has been through his own battles with mental health, and I think it’s nice that we can talk about it together.”
The couple have been married since November 2016, after they tied knot in an intiamte ceremony in the Blue Mountains.
