From minute one, Hank and Lily were always going to be “happily married,” but the biggest surprise was the thawing of a once-stern relationship between Lily and Hank’s mother, Margaret, who completely let her guard down as the show progressed.
Watch Hank talk about the battle he and Lily faced with Bride and Prejudice in the video below.
“I get along really well with Margaret,” Lily tells WHO.
“Terry hasn’t changed at all but I have learnt to not let what he says hurt or affect me,” she continues.
While it’s all good now between the loved-up pair, Hank believes he hit a real low point in the show. “Seeing Lily cry after some of the words that were said to her by my dad that never made it to air. That was hard, as she never deserved any of that.”
All in all, he says the couple’s experience on the show made their relationship stronger. “Mainly because I have learnt to listen and understand where people are coming from.” And Lily agrees: “It has definitely made us a lot closer and stronger. We learnt to really be there for each other emotionally.”
The two also agreed that their wedding was one of the highlights on the show.
“Getting to marry my absolute best friend, Mr Hank! He really is a gorgeous soul and everything we went through has led to this moment and I couldn’t be happier about it,” says Lily.
Asked if they’ve thought about making their family bigger, both confirm there’s room for that in the future.
“I am sure once Lily and I are ready and financially able, we shall put a bun in the oven,” says Hank.
