Bride & Prejudiceโs Izzy speaks out about her relationship with Simon, and whether itโs all worth it.
WHO: Your mum and best friend had a very strong reaction to your engagement news? How did it make you feel?
IZZY: Mum and Amandaโs reaction to the news was definitely negative but not unexpected. Mum hasnโt liked Simon from the beginning and Amanda was there for me when Simon and I broke up, so she feels pretty strongly about him too.
It makes me feel super conflicted because both mum and Amanda have only ever wanted the best for me, everything they do comes from a place of love. Neither of them have ever steered me wrong and have always been my biggest cheerleaders, so for them to be forcing a wedge between me and their person I love is really hard to reconcile.
WHO: Is your relationship with Simon worth the fighting with your mum and friend?
IZZY: Of course, I wouldnโt be doing this if it wasnโt. Simon and I have fought through plenty of adversity already, and always come through it holding one anotherโs hands and laughing. Spinoza wrote โ All things excellent are as difficult as they are rareโ and I really think that applies to our love story, itโs worth fighting for.

WHO: Did you ever feel uncomfortable having this talks with your family on camera?
IZZY: Family disagreements are uncomfortable enough behind closed doors but little else will make you feel as vulnerable as airing your familyโs dirty laundry to a room full of producers and a camera crew, knowing itโs going to be broadcast nationally.
WHO: Whose idea was it to apply for the show?
IZZY: It was mine, I sent the brief to Simon as a joke, from my bedroom in Mรฉxico City. We didnโt even submit our application until the last day they were taking submissions!
