What are the Claremont Serial Killings?
It’s 1996 in the upmarket Perth suburb of Claremont. 18-year-old Sarah Spiers calls a taxi after a night out at Club Bay View and is never seen again. A few months later Jane Rimmer, 23, also disappears after leaving the Continental Hotel. Her body is found weeks later in bushland.
Police begin to suspect a serial killer is on the loose, and the hunt to catch them begins. As police search for a suspect, 27-year-old Ciara Glennon is taken and killed in March 1997. She was last seen getting into a taxi after a night at the Continental Hotel. Her body is also found in bushland weeks later.
Who is the Claremont Serial Killer?
The search for the murderer of these three young women continued for over two decades, until an arrest was made. In 2016, Bradley Robert Edwards, 50, was charged with the abduction and murder of the three women, the abduction and rape of a teenager in 1995, and an assault against a teenager in 1988.

Edwards, who will face trial in July 2019, has denied all allegations and plead guilty to all charges. Edwards’ pre-trial hearing was delayed in February this year after a self-inflicted wound forced him to be admitted to hospital.
When Edwards, a former Telstra employee and Little Athletics volunter was arrested in 2016, police allegedly discovered “extreme pornography” at his home. In his pre-trial in February, the court heard he had an obsessive interest in abduction and rape.
Edwards trial is to begin on July 22 and expected to run for nine months.
