Sports broadcaster Darrell Eastlake has passed away after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease and emphysema. He was 75.
The Nine Network, where he called Origin, the Commonwealth Games and several other sports, announced the Wide World of Sports star’s death on the Today show on Thursday morning.

He passed away at a nursing home on the NSW Central Coast with his wife Julie by his side, Seven News reports.

His wife opened up about his battle with alzheimers in an interview on A Current Affair in 2016.
“He gets very down because he thinks he’s forgotten, but he’s not forgotten, he’s really and truly not,” she said.
