At the Paradise-themed party at the Flamingo Lounge in Sydney on June 8, Michael Turnbull offered himself up for auction as a date, all to raise money for Cure Cancer Australia. “Mike has been the biggest supporter of our event,” said organiser Jake Ellis, “but he was a bit nervous he wasn’t going to get $100, but he’s well and truly past that.”
By the end of the night, bidding surpassed $6,000. “He’s disappointed with that,” marvelled Tara Pavlovic. “I don’t understand how he can be disappointed.”
Call it his competitive nature. In addition to the auction and bringing “everybody to the dance floor,” Michael told WHO, “I’m meeting a lot of new people, which is great, and it’s all for a good cause, which we like.”
“I believe the final auction price was a very generous $6,000.00 for a date with me,” Turnbull stated.
“Cure Cancer Australia are contacting the winner this week so I’m very excited to meet her and thank her for her contribution. I’m looking forward to planning a great VIP date with the winner in her hometown,” he confirmed.
“I lost my best friend to cancer so this cause is very close to my heart,” Turnbull lamented.
Aside from the paid-for date, Michael insisted there was nothing exciting about his romantic life. “Yep, I’m single,” he said. “Life’s pretty good at the moment, lot of travelling and just enjoying myself, but I’m always on the lookout for potential partners if one comes along, but single for right now.”
After Bachelor in Paradise, Michael went back to work in real estate and property, but he told WHO he may be headed to the US for new opportunities. “Netflix is taking over the world and I’ve had some chats with them and there are some pretty good things in the pipeline,” he said. “I’m not an actor or anything, but apparently, they’re interested in having a chat, so I will be talking to the producers and we’ll see what happens.”
