Former baseball star Roy Halladay has died following a fatal plane crash

Baseball great Roy Halladay has died in a fatal plane crash on November 7 in the Gulf of Mexico.

Florida authorities at The Pasco County Sheriff’s Dept is set to hold an official news conference to share more details of the tragic crash. According to TMZ, they’ve confirmed Roy was the only person aboard the ICON A5 light-sport aircraft when it went down 10 miles west of St. Petersburg.

The Sheriff’s Dept. has only revealed that the retired sportsman did not make a mayday call before his plane crashed. His body has been recovered.

Legends and mediators of the baseball community have since taken to Twitter to share their messages of condolences.

During his career, Halladay was an all-star pitcher for The Phillies and Blue Jays.

His former club, The Phillies have since issued a statement: “We are numb over the very tragic news about Roy’s untimely death. There are no words to describe the sadness that the entire Phillies family is feeling over the loss of one of the most respected human beings to ever play the game.”
