After spending a week apart on Married At First Sight, Michael decided to be “brutally honest” during his final vows with Martha.
“I’m a bit concerned about how Martha’s going to react,” Michael told producers, while he waited for his on-screen bride.
“I’m content with what I want to do.”
As Martha approached her husband, she told producers that their future “hangs” on whether or not Michael chooses to move to live with her in Bondi.
Admitting to Michael she was “unsure why they had been matched” during their TV wedding, before describing all the ways they complement each other.
“I think we make such a great match,” she admitted.
“However, I worry if I were to commit to you now we would only find ourselves heartbroken down the track,” Martha continued. “The distance between us will cause problems and I worry without you by my side each day that I will lose sight of you and become distracted by my busy and unpredictable life.”
“But if I want something, I’m not afraid to work for it – I’d be crazy not to give this everything I’ve got.”
Martha smiled, before saying, “Michael, I want you in my future because I’m falling in love with you more and more every day.”
Michael then pulled out his vows.
“I’ve weighed up every moment we’ve shared together – it was difficult to accept that you didn’t believe I was being my genuine self. You kept me at an emotional arms length and all I could do was wait for you to start believing me,” Michael said.
“I was caring and patient and gave you ample time to put your guard down – but I didn’t realise the mental and emotional toll it would take on me.”
“I began to question if the reason you weren’t opening up was because I wasn’t good enough and I worried that you weren’t willing to compromise,” he continued.
“But there was something inside that kept telling me to stay and being apart from you has made me realise how much I need you in my life.”
“I am willing to give up everything I have to relocate for you, and there’s only one reason I feel the way I do… and that’s because I love you.”
