According to a report by the Daily Mail, Nicole, 53, and Keith, 52 flew from Tennessee to Sydney via private jet with their daughters Sunday Rose, 12, and Faith Margaret, nine.
The family were granted permission by the New South Wales Government to self-isolate for two weeks at their $6.5 million mansion in the Southern Highlands rather than at a quarantine hotel.
Under public health orders by the Minister for Health and Medical Research, everyone returning to Australia from overseas must quarantine for two weeks in a hotel, however the NSW Government website says that exemptions are “only considered where there are strong medical, health or compassionate grounds” or if the traveller is “transiting out of NSW to an international destination other than a Pacific Island country.”
Nicole is returning to Australia to be closer to Nicole’s mum Janelle and begin filming for the adaptation of Nine Perfect Strangers by Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty of which she is starring in and co-producing.
According to the Southern Highland News, pre-production for the miniseries will take place at the Oscar winner’s Sutton Forest home, and the series will be filmed at various locations across NSW including Byron Bay.
Filming for Nine Perfect Strangers is set to boost the South Coast economy in the wake of the devastating bushfires, droughts and COVID-19 restrictions.
“The series dares us to dream, transform, transcend… all you have to do is check in,” Nicole told US streaming service Hulu in a statement.
Home and Away‘s Samara Weaving and Bridesmaids’ Melissa McCarthy are also set to star.
The Kidman-Urban family were previously isolating at their Nashville home and in a chat with the Sydney Morning Herald, Nicole revealed how much of a struggle it was to not see her mum for Mother’s Day back in May.
“We’re in a position where we just have to relinquish control right now and go day by day,” she told the publication.
“I have my immediate family here, but I don’t have my extended family, who are so much a part of me. I can’t touch them,” she added.
“So many people are in exactly the same position. So many people right now are going, ‘When do I see my family again?'”
Nicole and Keith aren’t the only celebrities who have skipped out on hotel quarantine this month.
In a recent report it was revealed that Dannii Minogue, 48, and her 10-year-old son Ethan are spending 14 days self-isolating at a Gold Coast private residence
The Queensland government granted them an exception to the hotel quarantine regulation due to medical reasons.
