Legendary actor and star of hit 1960s sitcom The Likely Lads, Rodney Bewes has passed away at age 79.
Bewes played the role of aspirational Bob Ferris in the popular comedy, alongside James Bolam who played the other Likely Lad, Terry Collier.
He then went on to star in the sequel to the show titled Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads? – which had up to 27 million viewers tune in.
In 1984, Bewes landed a role in Doctor Who, playing a humanoid named Stien in Resurrection Of The Daleks.
Following the news of his death, a number of heartfelt tributes have been posted on social media.

We are very sad to hear of the passing of Rodney Bewes, a fine comic actor who we had the honour of meeting and working with. He will live on through Bob Ferris and the brilliant Likely Lads. RIP
