National treasure Guy Sebastian won the hearts of Australians way back in 2003 when he narrowly beat out Shannon Noll to win the original Australian Idol crown.
The I Chose Good hitmaker has come a long way since then, and by his side every step of the way has been his wife, Jules Sebastian, who first met The Voice coach at a church group when they were teenagers.
The pair fell madly in love with one another, eventually tying the knot in 2008 and welcoming two sons along the way.
As the 42-year-old prepares for another year as a coach on The Voice – this time alongside Adam Lambert, Kate Miller-Heidke, and LeAnn Rimes – the fascination with his famous family continues to grow.
Scroll on to delve into the detailed dynamics of the Sebastian family.
Is Guy Sebastian married?
Guy Sebastian has been married to his wife Jules since 2008.
The couple first crossed paths at a local church group and with their friendship continuing to blossom, the pair began their romantic relationship a few years later, with the couple starting to date when Guy was 18 and Jules was 20.
Despite being one of Australia’s most beloved celebrity couples, the pair have previously revealed that ahead of Guy’s breakout appearance on Australian Idol in 2003, Jules decided to call it quits.
“She broke up with me, and then Idol happened and I moved to Sydney, and I didn’t think we’d get back together. I wasn’t sure,” Guy told Sunrise.
Fortunately, the pair eventually rekindled their romance – tying the knot in May 2008.
Reflecting on their romance, Guy and Jules have long been open about the importance of keeping the lines of communication open, with Jules crediting their open dialogue for keeping their relationship strong over the years.
“I probably noticed his character and that he was a good person at the start, but I probably didn’t know it in as much detail as I know now watching how Guy lives his life, how he interacts with people, his integrity, his patience, his professionalism,” she told WHO in 2023.
“All those things, I sort of subconsciously knew that was inside of him but it was never really brought to the surface until life really kicked off and all those things were put to the test and he really has just remained a good person at the end of it all.”
Does Guy Sebastian have children?
Guy and Jules Sebastian share two sons – Hudson, 12, and Archie, 10.
Speaking to WHO in 2020, Guy praised Jules for her transition into motherhood – something that he hadn’t thought about much when it came to qualities he admired at the beginning of their relationship all those years ago.
“Jules was a tomboy growing up. You know how some women growing up are kind of like, ‘I just can’t wait to be a mum. That’s all I want, I want to be in the mum’s group, I want to wheel the pram in my workout gear and I want to be that person?’ Whereas Jules was petrified of it.”
“She understood it was a massive responsibility and I never heard the words ‘I want to be mum’ ever come out of her mouth because I think she was scared that she wouldn’t do a good job.”
Despite her initial reservations, The Voice coach said she had taken to parenting like a complete natural, adding, “The thing that I’ve seen her do unbelievably well is be a mum… I think you have a newfound love for your partner when you see them in a role like that – nurturing and looking after the people that matter the most to you. She’s killing it!”
While they try to stay on the same page as much as possible, the pair admit that sometimes they disagree on the best way to parent their children.
“If we do disagree on something, we try to have a private conversation about that and not discuss that in front of the children because then they’re kind of involved in the weakness of the whole situation,” Jules said.
Her husband added that they tried not to fall into the “good cop/bad cop” trap.
“You naturally gravitate towards wanting to have them like you. So it’s tough when you’re just being that one parent that’s letting the other be the one that isn’t liked all the time,” he said.
“I think the worst thing you can do as a couple because that’s when your own relationship deteriorates, is just one parent lets the other take up all the slack when it comes to actually disciplining your kid and telling them things they don’t want to hear. I feel like we’re pretty good.”
Does Guy Sebastian have siblings?
Guy may have risen to fame on Australian Idol, but he’s not the only singing star of the Sebastian family!
In 2020, Guy’s younger brother, Chris Sebastian, caused a stir when he competed on and won The Voice, where Guy was employed as one of the show’s coaches.
Thanks to the brothers being seen together on screen – not to mention Guy breaking down in tears at the sight of Chris performing – an interest was also sparked in the Sebastian brothers’ dynamic.
As well as Chris, Guy has two other brothers, Ollie and Jeremy, and they all share an incredibly close bond – much like Australia’s most famous siblings, the Hemsworths.
“Look, if we all looked like the Hemsworths, I think we would all be a bigger topic than we are,” Guy Sebastian told WHO.
“I think that the thing that I’m happy that people know is just how close we are. I feel like brotherhood is such an unbreakable bond.”
This close sibling friendship is something Guy is hoping to pass down to his own children, adding, “I’m always saying to the two boys… they’re two years apart and they’re always fighting but when it crosses the line, I’m always like… especially to Hudson, poor kid, he’s the oldest so he gets the brunt of the discussions like, ‘Dude you’re his brother, brothers are for life, you cannot speak to him like that, you’ve got to look out for him.'”
“And I see it in my dad. My dad hates it when we [me and my brothers] fight. It’s the absolute worst thing that could possibly happen if he thinks that we’re not close and a lot of our conversations with my dad is always hoping that we’re all getting along and hoping that we’re all close because he’s desperate for that and that’s really been passed on to me.”
How does Jules Sebastian get on with her in-laws?
The close friendship the Sebastian brothers enjoy is also something that has extended to the relationships between their wives.
In fact, Jules Sebastian’s friendship with one of the Sebastian brothers’ partners actually pre-dates her romance with Guy.
“I feel very lucky to have married into such a tight-knit family and my sister-in-law, who’s married to Guy’s oldest brother, I’ve actually known her since I was five years old, we grew up together,” she said.
“We knew each other before we knew the boys so I feel like she’s just my person. We’re very similar age bracket and our kids are similar ages so we’ve been through the marriages and the pregnancies and the mothering and all the stages together so that’s been really cool to have someone who really, truly knows you from your childhood right through to everything that’s happened in each other’s lives so we’re really tight.”
As for the other women to have entered the Sebastian family over the years, Jules is just as complimentary.
“The other two, they’re just legends. It’s just a jackpot! When Chris started dating Tash, we were like, ‘Don’t stuff this up, man! She’s excellent. We don’t want to lose her out of this crew so make sure you treat her well,” she said.
“And the youngest one, Emma, we actually get mistaken for each other quite a lot because we look really similar. So I’m always teasing Jeremy. I told Jeremy it’s because you had such a big crush on me that you had to marry my twin!”
