Even after she was outed for having an affair with Snow White & The Hunstman director Rupert Sanders, people (Donald Trump for one) began questioning her morals but we were still talking about her and her taste in men.
However, over the years Stewart has become one of the reluctant faces for the bisexual community. Not because she was reluctant about her own sexuality, but because Stewart wanted to be known for her acting, not her personal life.
Now that she’s found a way to be more comfortable talking about her relationships she says it’s made her happier.
So, let’s explore the journey of how the American actress has helped to provide a voice for the LGBTQIA+ community.
Is Kristen Stewart bisexual?
If you’re reading this then maybe you don’t know that Kristen Stewart has already announced to the world that she’s gay, way back in February 2017.
Stewart hosted an episode of Saturday Night Live and spoke about the 11 comments Donald Trump had tweeted about her back in 2013. More specifically, how he tweeted that Rob Pattinson should dump her.
Then she went on to tell the President, “If you didn’t like me then, you’re probably not going to like me now, cos I’m hosting SNL and I’m like, so gay, dude.”
Who’s that lady?
In 2014 Stewart was seen out with, shock, horror a woman. And that’s when Kristen fever became heightened. ‘Is she or isn’t she?’ we whispered.
“Right now I’m just really in love with my girlfriend,” Stewart told Elle UK. “We’ve broken up a couple of times and gotten back together, and this time I was like, ‘Finally I can feel again.'”
The lucky woman? Alicia Cargile, a visual effects producer.
Why she used to be more private
Back when she was dating Robert Pattinson (2009-2013), Stewart was uber-private about her personal life.
“I wouldn’t tell you anything about anybody I cared about because it becomes entertainment for other people, and it sort of just cheapens everything in your life. I would never tell you if I was dating anybody.”
Why she came out to the public
In 2013 while she was dating Pattinson, the actress said, “I was hiding everything that I did because everything personal felt like it was immediately trivialised, so I didn’t like it.”
“We were turned into these characters and placed into this ridiculous comic book, and I was like, ‘That’s mine. You’re making my relationship something that it’s not.’ I didn’t like that.
“But then it changed when I started dating a girl. I was like, ‘Actually, to hide this provides the implication that I’m not down with it or I’m ashamed of it,’ so I had to alter how I approached being in public.
“It opened my life up and I’m so much happier.”

She was always pro LGBTQIA+
“The whole issue with sexuality is so gray. I’m just trying to acknowledge that fluidity, that grayness, which has always existed,” she said in an interview with The Guardian.
“But maybe only now are we allowed to start talking about it. I think things (the culture) are changing. Individually we are all part of that change and so I can take some credit for it, I guess – there’s no reason why I should shy away from that.”
She’s not the one who’s confused…
In an interview with The Guardian, Stewart was frank.
“It’s cool that you don’t have to nail everything down any more. That whole certainty about whether you’re straight or gay or whatever. You’re not confused if you’re bisexual. It’s not confusing at all. For me, it’s quite the opposite.”
In fact, she’s probably a bit over it
In September 2015, Nylon magazine published an interview with Stewart.
“I think in three or four years, there are going to be a whole lot more people who don’t think it’s necessary to figure out if you’re gay or straight,” she said. “It’s like, just do your thing.”
She’d like you to feel OK about your sexuality, too
In reference to an article in The London Sunday Times Stewart said that talking about her relationships with women was “an opportunity to surrender a bit of what was mine, to make even one other person feel good about themselves.”
“It took me a long time to realize that I was a girl as a teenager. At that point, I never really believed it. I looked like a boy for a long time. Now finally, I feel like a woman.”
