Despite splitting over seven years ago, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck are picture-perfect examples of celebrity co-parents.
The pair, who were married for over ten years are famously private parents of their three children and have worked hard to keep their kids out of the spotlight.
Over the years, the pair have offered a handful of glimpses into their family life, sharing photos and divulging in how they make their family unit work.
“Jen is a superhero mom. She is an amazing mother and I’m really lucky to have her as a partner to co-parent these kids with. We try our best, we put them first and that’s what we do,” Ben explained to E! News in 2016.
“It’s not Ben’s job to make me happy,” Jennifer revealed to Vanity Fair that same year.
“The main thing is these kids — and we’re completely in line with what we hope for them. Sure, I lost the dream of dancing with my husband at my daughter’s wedding. But you should see their faces when he walks through the door. And if you see your kids love someone so purely and wholly, then you’re going to be friends with that person.”
In March 2023, Ben, who has since re-married his ex-fiancee, Jennifer Lopez, revealed that his kids are his number one priority and play an important part when considering what projects he wants to take on.
Explaining to the Hollywood Reporter that his children were a key factor behind why he began his production company in Los Angeles, he shared: “One of the reasons I did it was, I’m divorced. I share custody. I don’t want to go to Austin and New Orleans and Georgia anymore and not see my kids.”
“It just doesn’t work. These years are too important. If I miss them, I’ll regret it for the rest of my life.”
In June 2023, Jennifer posted a sweet tribute to Ben for Father’s Day on Instagram. “PS Shout out to BGA” she wrote, referencing the actor’s full name Benjamin Géza Affleck.
“No one loves their kids like you love ours,” she added, “Happy Father’s Day, Ben! X.”
Now navigating life with teenagers, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck continue to share insight into how they balance co-parenting. Here’s everything we know about their three children; Violet, Seraphina and Samuel.
Violet Anne Affleck
Born on December 1, 2005, Violet is Ben and Jennifer’s eldest daughter. Jennifer has been open about the difficulties in navigating teeangedom for the first time with Violet, and how hard she and Ben have tried to raise their kids with a sense of normalcy.
In 2019, Jennifer shared that she was attempting to navigate social media with her eldest daughter, revealing that she was “kind of panicked” about it.
“She’s not on social media yet — her school has a no social media policy until 6th grade — but I know it’s coming soon,” she told Today in 2016.
“She’ll occasionally talk to me about getting Instagram, and I can see why because I’m on there and it’s something kind of fun that I do, and I am modelling the opposite of what I want for her to do,” she continued. “How often is that in parenting?”
Now 17, Violet remains largely out of the private eye. However, she made a rare public appearance with her mother in 2022 during a state dinner at the White House and fans couldn’t get over how similar the pair looked.
Fans were once again surprised by just how similar Jen and Violet looked when they spotted Ben and his daughter at a Fourth of July Party in 2023.
Seraphina Rose Elizabeth Affleck
Jennifer and Ben welcomed their second child on January 6, 2009.
The pair reunited to host a party for Seraphina’s ninth birthday in 2018. “It was a small celebration,” a source told PEOPLE. “Ben was there too. Seraphina had friends over for cake and got a lot of gifts.”
Now 13, Seraphina also tends to remain largely out of the spotlight, however, she ahs been spotted hanging out with Jennifer Lopez’ children Emme and Max on several occasions.
Samuel Affleck
Ben and Jennifer’s youngest child, Samuel was born on February 27, 2012.
The only son of the couple, Samuel has taken in his dad’s footsteps with his love of all things sports. In 2019, Ben revealed to Ellen DeGeneres that he was the coach of his son’s Little League team. “It’s one of those things, you love it so much, it’s like the dad dream,” he said.
The father-son duo are regularly spotted together at games. In December 2022 the pair sat courtside together at a Boston Celtics game and in February 2023 they attended an NBA celebrity game together, introducing the teams before the game.
