Ryder Jackson

Who Is Ryder Jackson?

Ryder on Home and Away is the son of Quinn Jackson and long-lost grandson of Alf Stewart. Although he is first depicted as a ‘bad boy’ rule-breaker with a sense of humour, it’s obvious that Jackson is the way he is because of his dysfunctional, broken family. Under the guidance of Alf, Ryder slowly becomes a more mature and responsible person.

How Was Ryder First Introduced?

Ryder first arrives in Summer Bay in an October 2017 episode of Home and Away. In his first appearance, he’s caught attempting to steal from Hunter King, and he is tracked down by his aunt Roo Stewart. Jackson describes his character as a sort of lost soul who returns to Summer Bay to connect with his estranged family and find something ‘more’ than what his single mother can give him.

Who Has Ryder Jackson Dated On The Show?

Ryder’s main love interest on the show is Coco Astoni, who he meets in his first episode. Jackson’s character was also involved in one of the show’s most progressive moments yet – a gay storyline and the show’s first on-screen same-sex kiss.

In the show, Ty Anderson discovers that he’s developed feelings for his best friend Ryder. After a personal conversation and a ton of misread signals, Anderson kisses Jackson. Ryder doesn’t reciprocate his feelings, but he’s supportive of Ty’s sexuality – a move which pro-LGBT advocates have praised.
