Meghan Markle is no stranger to breaking royal protocol.

From holding hands with Prince Harry in public to signing an autograph for a fan, the former Suits actress is definitely bringing her own flair to the royal family.

In US TV special Meghan’s New Life: The Real Princess Diaries, royal reporter Omid Scobie claims the Duchess of Sussex has broken yet another rule by writing her own speeches.

“When she gave one of her first speeches in Fiji, she had notes with her that had all handwritten scribbles on before she went up,” Scobie said.

“And I asked a palace aide, ‘Has she written this herself?’ because that’s quite unusual for the royals, there’s usually other people.”

“And they said, ‘This was all her. She’s been up for days working on this speech.’”

When it comes to putting together speeches, the royal family will normally get help from palace aides and staff.

The documentary also delves into how Meghan’s speeches have the potential to be quite controversial.

“In these times and for this family it is pushing the envelope to give speeches on feminism,” Vanity Fair writer Michelle Ruiz said.

“It’s certainly something the Queen doesn’t do, nor does Kate Middleton do. Meghan is the feminist princess of our dreams.”
