Meghan Markle might be thrilled to see herself described a ‘insanely smart’ in an investigative piece by prestige US magazine Vanity Fair, but she’ll be less thrilled by some of the other claims made therein by former close associates.
The piece, by journalist Vanessa Grigoriadis, forensically examines the Duchess’ rise to fame, integration into the house of Windsor, and the subsequent implosion of her relationship with her own family. And along the way it exposes a few headline-grabbing nuggets about some of Meghan’s alleged personality traits.
‘Meghan’s goal was always becoming a household name,’ an unnamed Hollywood acquaintance told the publication – claiming that her focus apparently doesn’t accommodate forming genuine connections with others.
‘She’s insanely smart and poised, but very, very guarded,’ the source is quoted as saying. ‘She’s not a person you can actually be friends with. She’s the type of person who is best friends with her stylist.’

Giving some insight into her tenacious drive, the magazine claims Meghan once threw a so-called ‘Sayonara Zara’ party to celebrate her then-rising TV fame and financial security, where she gave away all her cheap, everyday clothing to guests. It was around this time that she enlisted stylist turned best friend Jessica Mulroney to oversee her designer wardrobe and image makeover.
One source who was happy to be named was Meghan’s spotlight-chasing sibling Samantha, who predictably complains at length about the royal bride, even comparing her to purported Hollywood monster Joan Crawford.
‘Consistently, my family was being isolated and ignored, like we’re non-existent,’ she rages.
But not all family members are so hostile, with the Duchess’ nephew, Tyler Dooley adding, ‘Let her go conquer the world.
‘There’s big stuff in store. I know she can make the world a better place.’
