The rivalry between Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and her sister-in-law, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge is escalating – and it’s forced the end of a special royal tradition.
Just like Princess Diana before her, Kate has taken to the steps of St Mary’s Hospital’s Lindo Wing hours after the arrivals of her three children.
However in a serious royal backflip, Meghan has made a last minute change to her birthing plan, instead choosing a maternity ward close to her and Prince Harry‘s new home, Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.
According to royal insiders, the 37-year-old mother-to-be doesn’t want to be accused of “copying” Kate by delivering her first child in the same luxury maternity ward.
“This child will not be born at the Lindo,” the source told The Sun.
“The talk of all the senior clinicians there is that Meghan doesn’t want to copy what Kate did.”
The source does admits there’s more to the soon-to-be-parents’ nontraditional decision.
“Harry and Meghan realise there is intense public interest but this baby is not a direct heir to the throne and they want the birth to be as private as possible.
“Meghan is nervous about complications such as an emergency Caesarean and doesn’t want the pressure of having to look immaculate on the hospital steps just hours later.”
Due to arrived in a matter of days, “Like any anxious first-time mum, she’s worried about the birth itself.”
