Lead actors from Sex/Life, Sarah Shahi and Adam Demos, have proven themselves to be complete couple goals in recent months.

However, before the two crossed paths on the set of their steamy show, Sarah had a whole other life.
She was a wife and shared three kids with her husband, Steve Howey.
In fact, she had only filed for divorce a month before the filming of Sex/Life began.
So, who is Steve Howey? And what happened to Sarah’s first marriage?
Steve and Sarah met on the set of Reba in 2004, where Steve was starring as a regular, Van Montgomery.
Sarah came in for a guest-starring role, leading to the two hitting it off and beginning a relationship together.
The couple became engaged in 2007 on a trip to Hawaii, and tied the knot two years later in 2009 in Las Vegas.
Their first son, William Wolf, was born in 2009, with Sarah having an at-home water birth.
They then went on to have twins in March 2015, Violet Moon and Knox Blue.
Despite the separation, the pair are both committed to keeping their children from the public, often hiding their faces in photos posted to Instagram.
It seems the couple faced a challenging change in their marriage following the birth of their kids.
“It can be overwhelming,” Steve said candidly in a 2016 interview with People.
“But Sarah and I work really hard now to schedule workout time together. Or we’ll run to the kitchen and do a tequila shot really fast — just do something together. Then it’s right back into the playroom or changing a diaper,” he shared.
Steve went so far to compare their situation to one of his roles – Kevin Ball on the show Shameless.
“I helped the storyline with Kev because of my own experience. My wife and I were like any other couple. All of our time was for each other. We would go on vacation, we’d have ice cream, we’d go to a movie, we’d do whatever we wanted to do. And then when we had the kids, it was really tough, all of that went away,” he said in an interview with Talk Nerdy To Us, also in 2016.
It also seemed the constant separation of the two actors due to busy working schedules might have had a role to play in their divorce.
“And also, we’re both working actors, so we were very tired, and when we’d come back, if there was any energy left it was for the kids, and not for each other. So we experienced that, I mean it almost broke us up,” he said in the same interview.
“We didn’t really understand why, we just weren’t liking each other and we realised that things weren’t the same and it was really messed up. Because it was hard and we weren’t used to it,” the 44-year-old explained.
With this sad foreshadowing, it’s barely a surprise the couple separated, with a public filing arriving in May 2020.
Sarah was the one to file, citing “irreconcilable differences”.
They had reportedly separated a month earlier, but no further detail was revealed to the public.
In a joint statement, the pair said they were “so grateful for the past 10 years together and proud of our children that we’ve raised.”
Sarah began dating her Aussie co-star, Adam Demos, in 2020.
Although they met and hit it off instantly while filming in August that year, they didn’t become Instagram official until January 1 2021.
They have since been very candid about their intensely loving relationship on social media.
On a post for Adam’s birthday, Sarah shared a number of images of the pair, and wrote a rather mushy caption to accompany it.
“Not exactly sure how two people on opposite sides of the world could have more in common, were meant to meet, were meant to be together. But I do know I met my soulmate. I do know I found my forever,” she penned sweetly.
“I do know I’ve never loved deeper, harder, more ferociously. I do know I’m overly grateful for him. I do know I’ve loved him for a thousand lifetimes before and will love him for a thousand lifetimes more. Happy birthday my baby ❤️,” she finished the tribute.
Adam has been equally loving to Sarah on his own Instagram.
The Wollongong-born actor posted his own tribute for Sarah’s birthday, writing “Happy bday my baby. I f*#kin love you. You’re everything.”
