Holly Ramsay’s wedding to Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty should have been a joining of two families, but it was far from it as Gordon Ramsay pointed out in his father-of-the-bride speech.

The couple married on Saturday at Bath Abbey, followed by a lavish reception at Kin House.

And while the guest list included celebrities and close friends, the groom’s family was notably absent… here’s everything we know:

Why was Adam Peaty’s family absent?

Adam’s mother Caroline, along with most of his extended family, was uninvited from the wedding amid a bitter fallout that reportedly began months earlier.

The tension is said to date back to September 2024, when members of the Peaty family were excluded from the couple’s engagement party.

Caroline was also not invited to Holly’s hen do at Soho Farmhouse, despite Tana Ramsay and several celebrity guests attending.

Speaking to The Mail on Sunday, Caroline said she felt Holly and Adam “have cut my heart out,” adding: “I’m not going to be hurt like this again.”

According to The Sun, Gordon Ramsay made a pointed remark about Adam’s estranged family during his father-of-the-bride speech.

After praising Holly’s appearance and telling Adam he was a “lucky man,” the celebrity chef reportedly added: “Look at Tana and that’s what you have to look forward to.”

He then allegedly turned to his daughter and said: “Shame you don’t have the same.”

The comment was widely interpreted as a dig at Adam’s parents, who were not present at the wedding. Yikes.

Adam is thought to have avoided mentioning his family during his own speech. Instead, he paid tribute to his swim coach Mel Marshall, calling her his “everything” and thanking her for “grounding and inspiring” him.

He reportedly added that he sees Mel “like a mum,” acknowledging the role she has played in his life and career.

A source told The Sun: “This was the Ramsays’ plan all along. They wanted Adam’s family gone and they have succeeded.”

Was there any contact from Adam’s family?

Just before entering the abbey, Adam reportedly received a text from his aunt Louise, who was also not invited. The message read: “I hope you never suffer the depth of pain you have put your mother through… Shame on you both. Shame.”

Despite everything, Caroline sent her son a card and gift for his 31st birthday, which fell shortly after the wedding.

Adam’s 73-year-old great-aunt Janet told The Mail on Sunday: “I just feel so sorry for Caroline… To be treated like this is not kind.”

Holly arrived at Bath Abbey on her father’s arm, wearing a lace gown hidden beneath a dramatic hooded cloak. The bridesmaids included her sisters Megan and Tilly, along with Adam’s sister Bethany- the only member of his family present.

The ceremony was described by one guest as “beautiful and very emotional,” with Adam’s five-year-old son George playing a key role. Church bells rang as the newlyweds departed for their reception.

What happens next?

The wedding is expected to feature in an upcoming Netflix documentary about the Ramsay family, due to air next year.

The series will offer Adam’s estranged family their first glimpse of the day they were not part of… a very sad state of affairs.
