FILM REVIEW: I Am Paul Walker

Warning, grab a box of tissues.

Five years after a car accident that resulted in his tragic death, those whose lives Paul Walker touched deeply have spoken about his legacy in a new documentary.

As his family, friends and those he worked alongside in the film industry share their favourite stories and memories of him, it’s clear that The Fast and the Furious star was much more than just an actor.

In fact, he was a philanthropist, a keen surfer and lover of the ocean (once admitting to his mum he wanted to quit acting to be a marine biologist), an environmentalist, a car enthusiast and an amazing father to his daughter, Willow—who was only 15 when her dad unexpectedly died.

In the words of his father, Walker was “the nicest man on foot” and no doubt this documentary was one of his family’s final steps in finding relief.  It’s a beautiful ode to his short yet adventure-filled life—proving he wasn’t on a downward spiral before his death—and its tender tone will no doubt prompt tears.
