Hoo boy if you thought Married At First Sight‘s Bryce Ruthven and the rumour of his secret girlfriend had been put to bed, think again! It turns out ex bride Samantha Harvey has some more details.
In a teaser trailer for Wednesday night’s girls and boys night episode, the voiceover reveals that Samantha, 31, who was originally paired with Cameron Dunne, has a big secret to share with the brides.
“I have some information that Liss is not going to like,” the ex-contestant says.
“I found out news about her husband Bryce from back home in my city Canberra and this is from one of Bryce’s closest friends and the information that I’ve heard is going to be a huge shock for Liss.
“If I didn’t let her know this, I wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight.”
The news certainly knocks Melissa Rawson for six who tearfully admits: “I am the biggest fool.”
Like Bryce (until only recently), Samantha is based in Canberra and said that she started to hear rumours about the secret girlfriend from three different sources – one of whom was mutual friend and ex Big Brother contestant Jason Roses who was also Bryce and Melissa’s wedding MC.
“I was out for drinks with friends and Jason asked me, ‘Have you heard about this other girl Bryce is stringing along while he’s on the show? He’s doing the show just to bring exposure for his career,'” Samantha revealed to TV WEEK.
“That’s when I thought, ‘No, I’m not going to let what happened to me happen to Melissa – I’m going to go in and tell her exactly what I’ve heard, instead of her finding out after everyone else has.
“It was hard. It’s harsh to hear when you’re in love with somebody. I told her that I’m upfront, and Melissa said she needed to go over it with Bryce and ask him about it in more depth.”
However, a previous report by New Idea revealed that producers “coached” Samantha into confronting Melissa about Bryce’s secret girlfriend.
“Samantha was given the full lowdown on Bryce’s secret girlfriend situation beforehand and told to bring it all up on camera,” the insider alleged, who described the result as “pure carnage”.
“Sam had heard similar things about Bryce back in Canberra, as they have mutual friends.
“Her plan was to quietly take Melissa aside and talk to her, but producers wanted a big scene!”
Bryce has denied the secret girlfriend rumours, but during his and Melissa’s final date in Canberra, Bryce’s friends confirmed that the part of the story about buying a gift for the mystery woman was true.
However, it seems like Melissa is still standing by her man and she shut down any buzz that Bryce was messaging another girl during her time on the show at Fitzy and Wippa’s MAFS Dinner Party.
“I didn’t believe that, there’s a lot of controversy around that conversation, Bryce was very honest with me from the beginning and I was very understanding about his past,” she said.
