Michael Brunelli and Martha Kalifatidis are one of the few Married At First Sight couples still together, but on Monday night the TV bride threatened to end things after one of Michael’s pranks worked a little too well.
On Monday evening, Michael, 30, shared the story of his practical joke with his Instagram followers via a Tik Tok style video that featured screenshots of messages between the couple.
“So yesterday my girlfriend sent me a message saying ‘You look hot’ and I did what any good boyfriend would do and decided to prank her and almost end our relationship,” he explained in the video.
The former reality star then revealed that he went on Snapchat and used the no beard filter and sent Martha a picture of his clean-shaven face along with the message: “Ok so I tried to trim my beard and I went too short so I just cleaned shaved to start again…like it?”
What followed was a series of horrified messages from Martha that Michael shared with his followers, that ended with “You’re single now.”
“So apparently I’m single.” Michael added.
Michael’s video garnered plenty of reactions from fans.
“LMFAO!!!! I can actually hear Martha’s voice as I read that lol,” one laughed.
Martha shared her thoughts as well, remarking: “Voldemort has seen better days than you clean shaven… just saying.”
However when one follower penned: “She should like you for what’s inside you,” Michael sympathised with his girlfriend.
“She does, but she’s also gotta roll over and see the outside every morning in bed,” the reality TV groom replied.
The last time Martha and Michael fuelled break up rumours was last year when they shared snippets of an argumentative text conversation with each other to their Instagram accounts.
In one message, Martha penned: “I can’t do mediocre, I want the best!” before adding: “I’m so fkn done!!!! I’m upgrading. Bye bihhh.”
However it turned out the messages were all part of a sponsored deal to promote WiFi.
“The truth behind our breakup… We haven’t broken up with each other but we have broken up with our telco and simply moved onto a better one,” Martha later clarified.
“Michael and I … have not broken up. We are actually really happy together.”
Martha and Michael famously met when they were matched together on the sixth season of MAFS that aired back in 2019.
Despite admitting that Michael wasn’t her type when she first laid eyes on him, the former MAFS bride explained on the Shameless podcast that she feels they were meant to be together.
“I always say Michael and I meeting was like fate and I know it’s so cheesy because I hate saying cheesy s*** like that but I really think it is otherwise it doesn’t really make sense,” she said.
“I think we were going to meet no matter what. Michael actually in Melbourne lives five minutes away from my parents’ house. No matter what happened, in this lifetime we were going to meet and be together.”
