The Big Brother house is back, and if you’ve been tuning in to that 24/7 live stream as much as we have, you would know that the chaos and secrets have only just begun.
As the series kicked off, this year’s 14 housemates were shocked by some good old-fashioned moving dramas when they realised there were no beds, no diary room chair, and no running water. Nothing says ‘welcome home’ quite like sleeping on a mat on the floor!
While we have certainly been introduced to some wacky housemates (Anita, I’m obsessed with you), fans have also complained that the cast looks awfully familiar compared to last year’s group, with many calling for more diversity.
However, there is one housemate in particular who is getting on everyone’s nerves, so much so that we’re not sure she’s going to last the first week.
Housemate Ebony has ruffled some feathers with her personality and strong opinions. She spoke about her “cocky” side with WHO ahead of the season, revealing how she’s not afraid to rub people the wrong way.
Fans divided over ‘fake’ housemate
While the season has only just begun, fans are starting to get fed up with Ebony. From talking about her intentions to date a “wealthy American” to bickering about how she likes her eggs, this 23-year-old self-made entrepreneur is definitely good at causing drama.
Unfortunately, not everyone is convinced she’s the perfect fit for the house.
“Is Ebony legit?” one fan wrote online. “Like the towel with her face on it, the tiara? Is she an actor? I didn’t think anyone would be like that out there.”
“This fake as Ebony…” another agreed. “Cleaning is peasants’ work; doesn’t do chores? Look at me!! She will last 5 seconds…switching off if she stays on.”
“I want to evict that Ebony already,” a third chimed in.
However, not everyone is seeing Ebony’s “assertive” nature as a negative, with many viewers thinking she’s “entertaining” and “hilarious”.
“Ebony is giving me good TV,” one viewer wrote.
“A bit of an entitled brat… [but] good to have someone in the house like that to make waves,” another agreed. “Otherwise, it is a bit boring.”
“Ebony is going to rub people up the wrong way and I love knowing that. Keep her in until the very end,” a third joked.
Ebony isn’t afraid to ‘stab some people in the back’
From the get-go, Ebony has not been shy about her intentions for being on the show. She’s on Big Brother to “dominate”, and she’s not afraid of “stabbing people in the back” to get her way.
She described herself as “cocky” and “assertive”, telling WHO that she’ll be “a bit bitchy” and “very honest” as a housemate.
“I don’t really get to pick and choose the housemates, so having no control is going to be very strange for me,” she said about what she’s least looking forward to in the house. “I’m not used to that. I’m a boss at home, and I want to be the boss in the Big Brother house, but we’ll see how I go.”
She’s in the house to have “fun” and “bring a little sense of humour to the house, a bit of cattiness”.
“I think it’s time to just go in there and just create some chaos and just enjoy my time,” she said.
She’s not willing to “break friendships” to get further in the game, but she isn’t above betrayal.
“I am planning on stabbing some people in the back,” she told WHO. “Maybe all of them. I can throw people onto the bus. I will do what I have to, to stay on top.”
