The MasterChef semi-final brought its fair share of tears, chaos, and sentimentality this week.
From judge Andy Allen’s return to the kitchen (fresh from paternity leave) to Jean-Christophe’s social media slip-up, Aaron’s farewell was a memorable one.
While all of the MasterChef contestants from this year already have plans in place for their future, this semi-finalist hinted to WHO about some top-secret overseas projects.
Since this season of the show didn’t include an international trip for contestants — something that sparked suspicions amongst fans about potential budget cuts — the thought of seeing them all reunite for an international adventure is just the teaser we need to get through the heartbreak of the show almost ending for another year.
‘There’s potential plans to actually go overseas’
Many of this year’s contestants have plans to reunite and collaborate on food “pop-ups” around Australia.
In respective chats with WHO, both Annabel and Casper hinted they had plans in the works.
“There are loose plans of pop-ups,” Annabel said, explaining that they’re waiting for the competition to be over before solidifying anything.
Casper confirmed these plans and admitted that “Vinnie, Annabel and [him]” have “a little bit of a group together” for some “events for the future”.
“I think once the season concludes, we’re going to reel in, heads down, and get to planning and finalising so we can have our first event,” he said. “But you know, everyone is keen to do stuff or really keen to collaborate.”
“I’m really keen to catch up with like Petro and Aaron, and hopefully do some events and stuff with them too.”
With Aaron now out of the competition and free to speak about what’s next, he confirmed he and several other contestants — including, we know, Casper and Petro — are planning “a couple of pop-ups”.
But the semi-finalist hinted at something even bigger.
“There are potential plans to actually go overseas,” he revealed. “So we’re going to keep an eye out for that one.”
Aaron stayed tight-lipped on the details, but when we mentioned the rumour that Petro is planning to take some contestants to Greece — something Luke teased after his elimination — he smiled and replied: “Aw yeah, yeah, that one and another thing.”
After a season with no international challenges, it sounds like fans may still get to see this year’s contestants cooking abroad. Watch this space.
Aaron gushes about his fellow MasterChef contestants
Aaron credits these plans to the MasterChef producers, gushing about how well they selected such a “genuine” group of cooks.
“I think that was the most special part of this entire season,” he said. “The fact that the producers got together a group of people that were just so genuine, and we all just clicked, which was amazing.
“We really liked hanging out with each other, and I think just the connections that we built, and how supportive we were of each other, I think was really special.”
Aaron added: “It’s a really lifelong friendship. Looking back at it, the whole experience was made so much more special because of the people that we got to deal with.”
