My Kitchen Rules has only just begun, and fans already have gripes about where the season is heading. From complaints about the drama to the controversial contestants themselves, many viewers have threatened to turn off the show entirely.

The series has included some intense confrontations one week in, particularly after the couple Jane and Shane ruffled some feathers by claiming that they prefer to “taste, not eat”. They also dished out some harsh critiques and suggested that you need to have travelled the world to know how to cook.

Naturally, this sparked quite a response from fans watching at home, with many questioning why they’re on the show in the first place.

However, while viewers have seen this couple clash with other bold personalities on the show — like self-proclaimed ‘Classy Bogans’ Alisha and Deanne — this year’s contestants have revealed a habit of Jane and Shane that hasn’t been shown in the series.

Speaking to WHO, Alisha and Deanne and best mates Angus and Simon revealed what it was like to sit at the table with the couple who have already been pegged as the “villains” of the season.

Alisha wasn’t the only one eager to leave the table

Viewers watched Alisha leave the dining table during Angus and Simon’s Instant Restaurant, but what they didn’t see was that others had the exact same urge.

However, they just weren’t as public about it.

The hosts themselves admitted that they were “actually excited to get away from the table because it was quite full-on” during that first Instant Restaurant. When it was their time to cook, they were happy to return to the kitchen after each course and avoid all the intensity.

“[We] needed a break already,” Angus and Simon said, confessing they were glad to be in the kitchen when Alisha stormed out.

Alisha and Deanne also spoke to WHO about this dinner party dynamic, revealing an unsurprising behaviour of Jane and Shane that the cameras didn’t catch.

While they expected everyone to read the room and “seep into the dynamic of the group”, the food stylist and her partner had another approach.

“I feel like she didn’t want to be as involved in some of the things that everyone was happy to get involved with,” Alisha and Deanne explained. “Conversations [that] we’re all having a laugh with and stuff. We were under a lot of stress.

“There are some activities throughout, [and] they weren’t joining in any of those at all, but they would just go out [and] they’re like, ‘Ew.”

Honestly, it sounds like it would’ve been hard for anyone to sit at that table when tensions were high.
