Channel 7’s brand new reality TV show My Reno Rules just premiered on Tuesday, April 21, with a shock twist that completely raised the stakes. This new Australian reality renovation series was announced in 2025, with serial Block bidder Adrian Portelli at the helm as a principle sponsor for the show.

Hosted by Dr Chris Brown, this series follows four teams renovating two neighbouring rundown homes in Bulleen, Melbourne — both of which Adrian bought for $2.7 million.

As the show premiered last night, Adrian also shocked viewers with a special announcement that completely changed the game for contestants and fans watching at home.

What did Adrian Portelli just announce on My Reno Rules?

Adrian left the four competing teams speechless when he announced that the competition prize money for the show has been increased from $100,000 to a staggering $1 million.

“I’m upping the ante… first place will now be competing for $1 million,” Adrian said on the show. “I want the best renos Australia has ever seen.”

For $1 million? Yeah, the reno better be good!

How does My Reno Rules work?

This new Australian renovation show sees four teams battling it out to take home this massive new cash prize by helping renovate two rundown homes in Melbourne.

Their decisions must impress judges Neale Whitaker (The Block, Love It or List It), leading buyer’s agent Simon Cohen (Dream Home, Luxe Listings Sydney), and Julia Green, founder of Greenhouse Interiors.

On top of the shock $1 million prize announcement, the second-place team was also revealed to walk away with $250,000, increasing the contestants’ chances that much more.

However, it’s not just the contestants who can win big, as a live prize draw allows viewers watching at home the chance to win their dream home.

Instead of an auction, two lucky Australian families will receive a life-changing call and hear that they’ve won a renovated, fully furnished, fully landscaped, state-of-the-art home in the show’s grand finale.

Who are the contestants for My Reno Rules 2026?

The contestants for this season include Queenslanders Mitch and Shaz, Victorian couple Nathan and Julia, Melbourne mates Franky and Isaac, and Queensland mother and daughter Emma and Michelle.

Mitch works as a landscape project manager and Shaz runs her own interior design business, however the pair have been vocal about the show’s cost-of-living reality.

Nathan and Julia’s three young daughters are driving their push for the cash prize, while Franky and Isaac are on the show to hopefully break into the property market.

For the mother-daughter duo, Emma runs her own interior design, property development and creative studio, and Michelle has been hands-on with multiple home builds over the years.

It’s safe to say the competition is fierce!
