The Traitors Australia 2026 is moving fast, and yet only one traitor, Alvin, has been banished so far.
While eliminated contestants have commented on the fast-paced nature of the game, with two eliminations every day – a murder in the morning and a banishment at night – meaning the players have to think fast on their feet, not many have confessed to the insane stress of the show behind-the-scenes.
Traitor Alex Nation, known for her stint on The Bachelor 10 years ago (does that chocolate bath scene ring a bell?), spoke to WHO about just how brutal the game is on the inside.
Spoiler alert: you never really get a chance to turn off.
“The game moves really quickly,” she said. “It is a fast-moving game, there’s no downtime from gameplay.
“It is a game where everything can change at the drop of a hat – It can switch in seconds.”
And don’t we know it!
Recently, Alex turned on her fellow Traitor Alex Quah in an attempt to save her skin after Faithful AJ confronted her outright and told her he knew she was a Traitor.
As audiences watched Alex break down at breakfast and scramble to save her skin, she revealed that off-camera, the stress was even worse.
‘Whether the cameras were on or off, we were in gameplay mode’
Alex isn’t a stranger to the world of reality TV and having cameras shoved in your face. However, for this star, the atmosphere of The Traitors was a completely different ball-game.
“How we filmed in The Traitors was so different to The Bachelor,” she said. “When we were off camera, it was just a bunch of girls that are chatting – we’re yapping, we’re snacking on food, we’re having fun most of the time.
“You’re not in your head as much – you definitely are in your head because you want this guy to like you, and you’re competing against other women, which is a bit crazy in itself – but with a show like this, it’s a different mind game.”
Alex revealed that all of the players were “still very conscious of the conversations [they were] having with people off camera”.
“I feel like the entire time, whether the cameras were on or off, we were in gameplay mode,” she admitted. “No one was ever fully relaxed because of the environment that it was and the show that we were on.
“There were definitely light moments where we’d have just conversations about what we do back home or missing our kids or whatever that may be, but for the most part, I feel like people were definitely in the game 95% of the time.”
Sounds like a nightmare.
Alex prioritised ‘self-preservation at all times’
Despite wanting to appear a united front and look out for each other throughout the game, it was inevitable that the Traitors would turn on each other.
After Alex caught heat following her breakfast blunder, her survival instincts kicked into gear, putting her fellow Traitor Alvin on the chopping block and revealing the true nature of the game.
“There was always self-preservation at all times,” Alex told WHO when asked if she could ever really trust anyone, even her fellow traitors. “I think there was only one other person I trusted completely and fully, and the rest I was sceptical of.”
